Super 8 / Re: What do these little lights do?
« on: November 23, 2015, 02:39:24 PM »
I just replaced those bulbs with super bright LEDs and connected the wires to the battery with a switch.  At night i now get much better light output and better view of the sides of the road. Took half hour to set up and well worth it.

Hey guys, Could someone help tell me how to de-restrict the CDI on a super 8 2012 model.

The Super 8 2t 2012 CDI is not restricted and replacing it will not make your scoot faster.

Thought I would bring this topic back. does anybody know what the green wire that is connected to the carb is?

I think it goes to the automatic choke.

How to direct wire and bypass the light control box. If the key is on the lights are on. Stays bright no matter what RPMs you are turning. No dim lights when coasting down a big hill.

Also Pimpy, how are your direct wired headlights holding up ? not to hijack the thread though.

The "always on lights" still work great.  Battery lasts longer than ever.  The light controller always pulls a draw from the battery even when turned off, when i bypassed the controller I can now can leave the scoot sitting for months without charging and it will start right up.  That light controller will kill a battery in two weeks.

1/4" holes are quit small, I've seen pics of people really sawing open their airboxes and I have seen a thread asking where to get a new air box. A couple of 1/4" holes can easily be duct taped restoring the airbox to stock.

When you drill holes, is there still filter material or is filter material needed over the holes ?

Sorry. I thought  about it more and it is two 1/2inch holes. No mesh or screen over them.  They are on the bottom and I never get any splash back from water there.  The air intake on the carb is so (17mm) small going any bigger than that will do you no good. If you install a larger carb then you may need larger holes.

The bigger the holes the louder the scoot gets. No need to over do it.

A good question ask would be: what area in^2 or cm^2 of air box was opened up to make a #91 jet ideal? One person my dremal a small hole and another a large hole needing 2 totally different sizes of jets.

I weigh about 180 now. I pulled the hose out of air box and drilled 2 more 1/4 inch holes in bottom.

I have 91 jet with no air screw change in carb and run smooth and cranks well.

I have about the same set up but heavier weights.  Average 42mph GPS with my 2012.  9 gram  rollers gave me the best around ride.  Tried weights from 5gr to 10gr.  Tried 5 and moved up in weights step by step. Started losing top speed when I got to 9.5 gram rollers. 7 gram my top speed was 35 mph GPS.

They don't look to bad. Don't know how much shipping might be. They have done scooters.

I'm totally disappointed in this because Kymcos aren't supposed to have shoddy construction like this.
.

There was no clamp holding the tube onto my Carb on my Super 8. Ours must have been built on the same Friday afternoon.

The sliders don't hurt the fuel mileage. If you use the same weight sliders they act as it they are a few grams lighter than your rollers. It makes you turn higher RPMs at the same cruising speed.  The higher rpms will increase your fuel consumption at higher speeds. You have to compensate by buying sliders that are a few grams heavier to achieve the same RPMs at cruising speed.

Just buy a few grams heavier sliders and you will keep the same gear range as stock but get the benefits of smother shifting without the fuel loss.
