I like the added visibility provided by the LED lights.  Is there any reason you decided to wire them to a switch instead of into the running light circuit?  I'm afraid my wife or I might accidentally turn them on during the day and forget to turn them off.  Also, from where did you purchase the leds?

Thanks everyone!  It has ~2200km and runs nicely.  Of course, I didn't notice the odometer was in KM until after I transferred the title...  It will be a grocery getter and sunny day work transport for my wife.  Plus, we can go out to eat or to the movies if we choose a place close to home.  We got the bug on our honeymoon last year.  We rented a People 50 in Rome.  Although I'm a cyclist, that was my first time driving a "moto," and it was a great experience.  Even though the Romans think of lane lines as guidelines, I was impressed at how well they followed the rest of the rules.  Once I got used to a standing start from a turn, the rest was easy.  Now that my wife has a job close to home, it seemed like the right time to buy one.

The boss has been derestriced and we can get an indicated 38 mph out of it.  Since it is a 2009, I cut/filed the CDI box, but didn't find any wires, so I have an derestriced Cobra unit on the way.  I was wary of getting another CDI box, but it seems that postings by "Art" support the purchase.  The air box looks like it has been slightly modified and the previous owner also said he removed the "washer" from the exhaust where it connects to the cylinder head.  When I get a moment, I'll snap a photo of the air box to see if you have any comments.  I've got 4 jets being shipped (82,85,88,and 90) and will do some plug chops to make sure I'm not running lean, since I don't think any carb work has been done. 

I'm not sure if I'll do an exhaust upgrade unless I can find a less restrictive stock unit someone is selling.  Although, wordslinger,  I thought I saw you post something about having troubles with the emissions plumbing on a 2009 after messing with the exhaust? 

Over the coming weeks I will likely do the drive belt for safety's sake, and get some rollers to see if we can improve the top end.  I would like to get a solid 43-45mph to keep my wife moving on one particular street she will have to take to get to work.  All the other streets are neighborhood roads.  We also have a buddy seat and a top case on the way.

Any more suggestions?

Hi,

My wife and I just purchased a 2009 People 50 2T.  I've been reading all the great information about maintenance and tuning, but I do have a question to which I haven't been able to find the answer.  Where are you getting gaskets to use when you rebuild your carburetor?  Or are they reusable?  I want to be prepared before I go tearing into it.
