People 250 / Re: Disconnect the ANNOYING "Met-In" Light?

It is supposed to come on when the seat is unlatched.  So check and see if your seat is latching securely.
It may need a slight adjustment.

I would guess it is on the same switch that turns the light on in the storage compartment under the seat.

Scoot safely,

If I just jiggle the seat, when it's latched, it will come one.  I'll get in there and see if I can figure it out.

Ditto on the battery.  And don't spend a lot at the motorcycle/scooter shop, pick up one at WalMart.  (They only last around 2 years for me but I don't put them on a battery tender in the winter.)

People 250 / Disconnect the ANNOYING "Met-In" Light?
« on: March 26, 2012, 04:31:57 PM »
My stupid "Met-In" light pops on all the time...even while driving.  Once, it came on while the scooter was in the garage and it drained the battery.

Does anybody know how to wire it so it NEVER comes on?

I have the First Gear heating system with heated jacket and gloves....I'm not toasty warm but I'm warm enough to drive to work in the lower-30's!

The gloves plug into wires on the sleeves and the jacket plugs into the plug I drilled a hole for on the left side of the bottom compartment.

I don't remember the wattage but when I bought it First Gear had a higher one and a lower one and I got the lower one.  I have not had a dead battery while using it.  (Except when the stupid "Met-In" light comes on while she's parked and drains the battery....I gotta disconnect that light somehow!)

I do have a Black and Decker "Start It" jumper box that fits in the bottom compartment and I carry that with me...it will even start a car!  (I had a battery die once at a gas station so paranoid about not being able to jump the scooter.)  I really wish they were a way to pop the clutch like on motorcycles to start the scooter!

If I ever find a larger one that, also, covers my hands I'll give you my old one!  :-)

Since going with one, mine seems to start up easier when it's cold...have had NO issues from it...

People 250 / First Post....2006 Kymco People 250
« on: March 26, 2012, 04:16:45 PM »
Hey, everybody!

I bought a 2006 Kymco People 250cc in 2007 from a friend who needed money.

I LOVE it and won't even think about selling it!

Mods:  New Concept carrier on the back (holds my full-face helmet); Iridium Power Plus spark plug (IX22B); and First Gear Heating System (for my vest and gloves which heat up...great for the cold Colorado Rockies mornings which can be in the 30's and 40's even in the summer)

I've looked for a larger windshield and haven't found one for this model....just for EVERY other Kymco model, it seems!

The only time I needed a mechanic to work on it was after I first bought it and it would overheat (and be hard to restart) in the hot summertime.  (He replaced the thermostat)  But even now if it's over 90 she doesn't like it and will sometimes act up.

I change the oil myself (Mobile One for motorcycles) and also replaced the standard lube in the CVT (tranny) with synthetic (I think it's Blue Max).

I ONLY put the highest octane level of gasoline in her and keep her tires at 35 PSI....she's great!

Glad to meet you folks...when people laugh at you just remind them that you're getting over 70 mpg....that always shuts em up!  :-)
