The extra carb jet that came with the scooter is marked N 82.

I haven't seen the carb jet that's in the scooter yet. Is such a  small difference in the jet size visable to the naked eye, or is there another way to check? If it is the same then #85 jets cost about $4 on Ebay depending on the seller (without shipping).     Paul

I am going to install the extra carb jet that came with the scooter. I don't know which size it is, but I think it must have been included with the scooter for derestriction purposes.   Paul

I took advantage of the weather to test out the new parts and went for a 26 mile ride, ;D just to be sure. The performace of the scooter was better over all. The Polini variator is supposed to add another 3mph to the top end. I was hoping to get it up to 45 mph but I never did, it seemed to be a little starved for fuel. I'll have to install the larger carb jet and test it out again.  Paul

The variator holding tool arrived (Buzzetti #5582) and it worked perfectly, cost about $13(US). I changed the original variator with a Polini Speed Control (P241647),cost about $65(US). The Polini roller weights are 6.9 grams. The Kymco roller weights seem to be just over 6 grams (any marks had worn off/weighed on a digital letter scale). I also installed a Malossi Kevlar X belt (M6113501) which is supposed to grip better and be stronger than the original, cost about $28(US). The Kymco belt (made by Bando) was in excellent shape having under 700 km of use. I took a short test ride and everything seemed to work really well. It looks like the northeast is due for about a week of bad weather, so I'll give it a full test run at the first chance that I get and report the results.        Paul

Basic instructions for replacing the boss drive: 1-Remove bolts(8mm) from clutch cover  2-Remove 17mm nut from front pulley  3-Remove outer half of drive pulley(drive pulley face)  4-Remove drive belt from shaft  5-With left your hand, hold inner half of pulley(movable drive face),and with your right hand remove the boss face drive(variator spacer). Be sure that you hold the inner pulley half securely to insure that the roller weights remain in their proper position (they could fall out)  6-Insert new spacer  7-Install belt  8-Install Pulley half and 17mm nut  9-Install cover

Honda/Suzuki World of Warwick (not Yamaha).

The last time I was at Javaspeed they were only repairing scooters and selling coffee. They weren't selling new scooters. Yamaha/Suzuki World of Warwick is the only Kymco dealer in the area that I'm aware of. Between the wind, uphill grade and speed of the traffic I can see the bridges to New Port acting as a trap. I use Rt.24 and I know that it wouldn't be safe (or legal) on the Agility.  Paul

I knew was missing something and now I understand what it was. My dad had bought me a Craftsman wrench set in 1977 with metric sockets and it's the set I still use today, maybe it's time to purchase some "modern" technology. Thank you for the explanation it was very helpful.  Paul

I haven't been to Javaspeed in a few months now. I do often ride over to the "east side" on nice days. I've been to many Grateful Dead shows and that tells me that your friend the toad is not from R.I.. I'm really only used to hand tools so I think I'm missing something. A friend helped me (we tried strap wrenches and a few other things) and we couldn't hold the variator face still even with just the force of a hand wrench on the pulley nut. Wouldn't an impact wrench supply a greater force making even harder to hold? The holding tool is on it's way, but my interest in impact wrenches is stirred up and I'm always willing to learn so let the explanations fly.    Paul

In all honesty it felt like a different scooter there was such an improvement. I'm really looking foward to ridding myself of the restricted bushing to see what the scooter will do. I'm waiting for a variator holding tool to come ( see new reply to 17mm pulley). Thirty seven years as a Dolphins fan in New England isn't easy. That is where the screen name phin is from.  Paul

I found what is supposed to be the correct holding tool for the Agility 4T made by Buzzetti (Holder tool Variomatic Kymco / BU-5582 cost:aprox. $13.50 US). I had to order it from  SIP-Scootershop in Germany. They require a $100 minimum order (to U.S. other countries may differ) which I really don't like, but there were only two sources that I found. The other source also in Germany had none available.  So I also ordered a Polini variator and a Malossi kevlar belt to get the order up to it's minimum. I will report if this is the correct tool, and how well it worked when it arrives. I will also give my impression of the new variator and belt.    Paul

I took the scooter out for over an hour to test the unrestricted or "race" CDI (Kymco TYC-D421) yesterday. The performance of the scooter was improved in every aspect. The motor took on a more powerful feel and sound. At no time did it ever feel like the motor was turning at too high an RPM or that it was being strained in any way. This is simple to install. One screw holds the cover(center of floorboard),unplug the old one and plug in the new one, repace the cover. I highly recommend this part.  ;D      Paul

The variator holding tool would be worth having. Is there one that is made to use on the Agility, or do you use a universal holding tool? If  Kymco had just put a couple slots for  some "maintenance bolts" to hold the variator life would be much easier.   Paul
