People 150 / Aftermarket bars?
« on: August 11, 2012, 11:33:58 PM »
Has anyone ever switched out the bars for something wider/taller, etc...?  Seems like all the 150'ers are pretty conservative with the bikes...

Curious as well,  what size uni filter did you use?

I could be wrong here, but I think an increased top speed will only occur with an increased RPM or a change of rear end gears

I've installed the HID in the people 250, which shares the same housing.  Although the light casted is much brighter in comparison, the reflector used in the kymco is total garbage and makes a terrible beam pattern (which is just less noticeable with the weaker halogen h4)

I went and put a sylvania silver star in, and it improved the function a bit after I got sick of the HID.

If you do go HID  stay in the low range like 4000k, and get the bixenon kit bulb and harness, so you can retain your hi/lo function

2009 KYMCO People 150

mint green/white and stitched brown seat/grips - the new ones are black seats and black grips - this looks better! front disc brakes, great suspension, large 16" wheels/tires that ride better then any of the 12" scooter wheels (including the buddy's and vespas). flip out pegs. AND IT GETS 100MPG.

Has only 4000km on the clock = 2,500 miles good brakes and tons of tire left, clear title in hand.  also have windscreen will include.

2007 kymco people 250 -  this is the final year kymco made the 'classic 250' model.   bike has a newer battery, carb was serviced a month ago.  runs out great!  Body condition -- it has a few scrapes- from the previous owner , only cosmetic..I touched them up and painted the muffler cover flat black and trimmed up the rear fender for a sportier look.   The brakes are good, tires good,  has 13,000KM (~8500 miles).

Going 22g (23x18) Dr Pulley Sliders.  OEM is 21g, but they are impossible to find.  They should feel the same acceleration wise, and MAYBE give me back some throttle at cruising speeds (less RPM's to do the same work)

What weights are you putting in?

Since mine has some decent mileage on it, and won't quite get to top speed, I figured it would be rollers as a start.  Having a hard time finding the stock roller weights!

As an addendum, when going sliders would I need to add weight?

Hi,

I had a similar problem, I had a lot of noise coming out of my variator, the roller weights to be exact. I lubed them and now have a lot less noise.

great...  I'm getting a new belt and slider weights installed next week!  hoping this will smooth things out a tad.

Thanks guys,  I found a write up w/ pics on the timing tune up for the 250.  I'll need a day off to get to it, but definitely going to give it a shot DIY..  12k she's due!

thanks for the great response...

I wonder if the exhaust was straight enough that you'd see flames because of this air injection system!  haha, not gonna do it - I enjoy a quiet motor..

Technical | How To / Does this 250 motor sound ok?
« on: June 18, 2012, 02:30:52 AM »
I bought this bike a month ago, 07' people 250 and I've been working on getting it tuned back up..  It almost sounds like either the timing is WAY off or trans needs a refresh of parts or the exhaust is causing some sort of noise.  Had the carb gone over with a new atomizer and cleared out jet, new plug, and fresh fuel and fuel filter.  tops out to around 70mph (gauge is saying more, but I know its far from it)..

I apologize for the terrible quality.  I caught a lot of air noise with the footage, but I can only get it to reproduce the sound underway.  Let me know if it sounds terminal or something is just loose, or thats just the way these motors sound?

Hey guys,

anyone with a good ear take a listen to this video and tell me if they think this could be exhaust related or something else (terminal)?  there is some wind noise, but you can hear 1st, their is a minor hesitation from a stop to a go.  and 2 there is a particular noise that can be heard after the bike starts gaining RPM's.
