Technical | How To / Re: People s200 starts then dies

Thanks.  Good compression and spark.  Fuel pump works.  I removed the bowl from the carb and cleaned what jets I could easily get to, and now it runs at high revs, but not on low revs or idle.  It seems to be the low speed jet, I'm thinking.  I don't want to get too far into the carb without a rebuild kit on hand, so it's time to find one.  So far I have found every part on line, including a new full carb, but so far no rebuild kits.  Anyone know where to get one?

Okay, I was a bit stupid.  The 14788 came up because when I pulled the battery, the odometer reset to kilometers instead of miles.  D'oh!  The service light (for lack of a better term) is still blinking and the scooter immediately dies right after I start it.  Is this some kind of sabotage to get me to take the scooter in for service maybe?  How can I redo this?  Obviously disconnecting the battery does nothing.  Help!

My People s200 is starting, then immediately dies.  It has a service light blinking and the number and shows 14788 on the odometer although it has less than 10000 miles on it.  I'm guessing that is some kind of service code, but I can't find it anywhere.  When it dies, the speedometer does it's little dance like I just turned the key on, so I'm guessing it's losing all power for a second then gettin g it back.

This is driving me nuts.  Does anyone know what this means?  I have the battery on charge right now, could it just need another battery?  So confused...

How much did it cost you to hire my ex wife to watch your scooter?

So, a few weeks in and I am loving this scooter!  Wondering why Kymco pulled it, it's rock solid in curves and has plenty or power for around town (I have the Bonnie for freeways and long trips).  It will haul my fat butt around 60 indicated, so I'm guessing 55 or so, and I am a big dude.  I think I'll own this thing until I just can't fix it any more!

There is a mounting plate for the People bikes ( no S designation ) . It works on the S bikes.

Thanks, man, that's what I was looking for!

Wow, good luck.  I've never done this so I have no idea what you may have fried.  You may want to try the technical section.

If your going to keep spares for that bike on hand my list would be:
Spare belt
Spare set of Dr. Pulley sliders 13g
Spare air filter x2 (depending on the weather in your location)
Spark CR7HIX NGK plug

That's about all you would ever need on the people, not too many issues if everything is in good shape. I wouldn't worry too much about seals and that kind of stuff, they hardly ever go bad. If your doing your own maintenance get a lieter bottle of some good synthetic 85-90 gear oil and a syringe to do your final drive oil every few thousand KM. If you want to stock up on some maintenance items our shop has everything in stock. PM me if you want a quote on some stuffs. PS hows the bike runnin? Everything cherry since getting it back?

Thanks.  And she's running bitchen.  Fires right up, even when cold, so fast you don't hear the starterr turn.  A bit more power than my old 150, not too much but a little at the start.  What I'm loving is more foot room than the 150!

Oh, and if anyone needs anything done, or is looking for a new bike in Socal, Pacific Motorsports (no affiliation) took real good care of me and they have been honest and beyond helpful.  They deal in Yamaha, Kymco and Victory so far...

Which Shad mounting plate did you use?

So, it took Kymco a week and a half to deliver some rollers, a belt and a gasket, but the scoot is finally ready and I pick it up tomorrow!   :D

Now, since Kymco is so slow at delivering parts, I'm just wondering which parts I should order to keep on hand?  Brake and throttle cables?  Maybe a tranny oil seal?  What are the problem areas in this scoot to watch for?

Thanks all!

Sounds like a fantastic place so far!

Agreed!  The owner must have apologized a half dozen times!

People s200 / top case?
« on: March 28, 2015, 02:09:06 AM »
I just checked with Shad and they claim they have no mounting hardware for the s200.  I loved the Shad I had on my People 150 back when and would love to put one on the 200 if possible.  Has anyone done this?  If I remember right, the mounting plate on the 150 was pretty generic, and was wondering if maybe this would work?  If I can't get a Shad, can anyone reccomend a case which will fit?  I checked the Givi website, and they don't list the s200 either...

Took it back to the dealer this morning and it turns out the stator gasket is leaking.  They have the gasket on order and are going to take care of it for me.  I am having the belt changed at the same time just because...

Anyhow, I am happy with the response of the dealer so far.  If all goes well, I'll give them a reccomendation here.  They sell Kymcos (and have certified mechanics), Yamaha, Polaris and Victory.
