Xciting 500 / Re: Rollers for better mileage?
« on: December 03, 2024, 11:46:39 AM »
Just a word of advice. Don't listen to anybody. Take your scooter apart to make sure what weight rollers you have from the factory before you order new ones. I took someone's advice and ended up buying the same weight I already had. It doesn't take that long to get them shipped, and it may save doing the job twice. Bye the way I went to lighter weight by 1 1.5 grams Dr Pulley sliders for better acceleration, and was very happy with my results

General Discussion / Re: our first snow!
« on: November 21, 2024, 11:24:55 PM »
We're supposed to get our first snow here in Syracuse, NY tonight. I'm 80 and don't do snow or cold very well anymore. Thankfully I spent Wednesday cleaning my scooter. Then I added Sta-Bil to the gas. After that it went into my heated garage, got covered, and had the Battery Tender hooked up. It will be on a sabbatical until early April. Happy Holidays and safe riding to all my fellow forum members. I'll be back in the spring!

I've got 4 huge Oak trees in my backyard. I have a John Deere D130 garden tractor with the bagger attachment. I bet I empty 20 or 30 bags full of leaves each fall. My neighbor just had his done by a professional. It cost him $350.00. I'm 80 now and probably will have to bite the bullet and go that route in a few years.

Changing the roller/slider weight is probably the easiest and cheapest modification you can make to your scooter. I've had 4 Kymco's so far, and I've installed 1 to 1 1/2-gram lighter Dr. Pulleys sliders in all of them. Very pleased with the results in performance.

Living here in Syracuse, NY, I'm in the Eastern time zone. I just leave my clock on DST because I don't ride very much during the colder Standard time. Having the clock 1 hour off is the same as the speedometer reading being off by several MPH to me.

I subscribe to it. I enjoy reading about other folk's rides. Here in Central New York, there isn't much interest in that unfortunately. I found a local scooter group on Facebook. I joined and found little to no participation among the 100+ members. Very disappointed in that! Scooter zine features different clubs and rides all over the country.

I think you can buy that type of bulb aftermarket!

I buy bird seed soaked in hot sauce.  The birds don't mind (they have no sense of taste), but the squirrels hate the flavor.  Regardless, I'm not a squirrel-lover.  They're carnivorous little rodentsthat eat birds.  I wish I could still shoot them like in the old days!

I buy the Red-Hot bird seed bells and suet. If we don't put peanuts out for several days, the squirrels get hungry and will
eat those too.

God bless you guys! I'm 80 years old and you won't see me on my scooter if it's below 50 degrees. I have both a bright yellow t-shirt, and a lightweight bright yellow jacket. They are both very bright and visible with reflective stripes. I also added black reflective graphics all over my scooter for better visibility.

Technical | How To / Re: Dr Pulleys in the house for the LIKE200i

I've installed Dr Pulley sliders in all 4 of the Kymco scooters I've owned ('09 People 150, '12 GTI 300I, '21 X-Town 300i ABS, '23 People S 150i ABS). I have always gone 1 to 1/2 grams lighter. It gives me a little better acceleration for around town driving. Pretty much negative impact on top end or mileage. Maybe not for everyone, but for an inexpensive performance gain, definitely a good way to go.

I really used to enjoy these charity type rides when I had my Harley. The last one I went on one was with my Kymco GTI 300i in 2013. I think I was the only scooter out of hundreds of motorcycles. I felt so out of place, I never went again. Unfortunately, here in central New York there are no groups or organizations that have an active participation for scooters. I've been riding mostly alone for a long time and miss the group rides.

I guess that I got my '23 People S 150i ABS just in time. For me at 80 years old it's just perfect. Pretty light weight, easy to maneuver, and a top speed just over 60. Extremely happy with it. At 80 years old, it will probably be the last scooter I will buy!

Here in Syracuse my wife just got interested in bird watching. I hung a couple of feeders and several suet cages to attract different species. She also heard that the Bluejays love peanuts, so she started putting peanuts out every few days. Well, it's true the Bluejays do love the peanuts, but so do the squirrels. Now when she puts out peanuts, we'll have 6 or 7 squirrels on our deck in a matter of minutes.

General Discussion / Re: Tyres for DTX360

Glad to hear good things about the Michelin City Grip 2 tires. I only have about 2000 miles on the stock Kendras on my People S 150, but want the best rain tires I can get. I get real nervous riding in the rain, and I understand the City Grip 2 is the go-to tire for wet weather.

LIKE 200i / Re: 5000 miles
« on: October 09, 2024, 08:41:40 PM »
just turned 5000 miles on my leftover 2020 like. took a road trip to Maine from upstate NY and ran perfect. I think it's just getting broken in. we ran through the mountains so 55 mph was about our top speed. only complain is the small gas tank. My wife rides a Vespa 300 and she's at 1/2 tank when I'm out. averaged around 70mpg and would do it all over again. great scooter

I'm in the same boat. I have a '23 People S 150i ABS that I absolutely love. The only downside is the 1.6-gal fuel tank. I can average a little better than you (75-80), but still have to stop for fuel too often.
