People GT 300i / Re: Biondi Windscreen GT300i
« on: August 20, 2012, 03:50:12 AM »
I installed Biondi screen on my   GTi 300 today.  Makes a big difference and is very well made.  However, the instructions don't make clear that the rubber spacer should be installed pushed halfway through the windscreen so that half of the spacer is on the inside of the screen, and half is on the outside.  Duh.

Hey, SG, just wanted to say hello.  My brother and I introduced ourselves to you at AmeriVespa, and I told you that I was planning to by a 300 GTi, and I did -- in gold.  Love it.

What were the symptoms of the problem and how was the problem identified by the dealer?

The engine would turn over, but not start.  On further examination, we noticed that the sound of the fuel pump spooling up was no longer audible.  After conferring with the Kymco regional people, they concluded that the ECU was bad.

Yikes!  I've just had a computer failure on my People 300 as well; dealer is awaiting a replacement unit from the distributor.  Any else had this problem?

Downtown 300 / Re: Mirrors
« on: July 12, 2012, 04:17:40 AM »
If it's like the People 300, the bolts that are accessed by removing rubber plugs are NOT the bolts that attach the mirror to the handlebar.  The nuts you want are under the rubber boot that surrounds the base of the shaft that attaches the mirror to the handlebar -- IF the Downtown is like the People.

Thanks for the tip, modmaster.  Your instructions worked like a charm.  Too bad the 300's toolkit doesn't include the proper-sized wrench.  Fortunately, I had one in my tool chest.  Now it lives in the 300.  Also, I wish there was a bit more travel to the adjustment.  I have mine set all the way down, and it's still just a bit high.

Does anyone know the load limit (i.e., driver plus passenger) of this model?

People GT 300i / People 300 GTi seat comfort?
« on: June 21, 2012, 09:58:27 PM »
I'm considering the purchase of a People 300 GTi.  My local dealer doesn't stock them, so I wasn't able to ride one in advance of ordering.  He did have a 2007 People 250 S which I did ride.  I liked it except for what seemed to be a slight forward pitch in the seat.  Does the 300 GTi also have this seat characteristic?  I'd be especially interested in hearing from people who have ridden both models.

I would also be interested in any other comparisons of the 250 and the 300, as I'm going to have to make a decision without actually meeting a 300 in person.

Thanks,

Joe
