Xciting 250 / Help with slider install
« on: September 07, 2013, 08:01:31 PM »
I have ran into a problem while working on installing a set of sliders. Everything goes together fine until I go to put the outside pulley face on. It will not slide into the spines and appears to be hitting the spacer(Kymco calls it the boss I think) before it can go far enough on. In other words it just won't slide on far enough to engage the spline. It looks like it's missing by about an eighth of an inch or so.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have the larger Givi screen too. I never thought about the screen allowing the noise to be louder on the bike. I did change my belt today. I have less miles on mine than you do. The new belt was at least an inch shorter than the original belt. I haven't ridden it yet to see if it helped any. If not, I will change the Givi out to the original screen again and see if that makes a difference.

This sounds exactly like what I am experiencing with mine. I have had mine apart several times and do not think it's the variator. I have a new belt coming to check to see if that helps. Won't hurt and I'll always have a spare if it doesn't solve the problem.

My wife Grand Vista has none of the noise the Xciting has.

Technical | How To / Normal sounds
« on: July 29, 2013, 06:53:22 PM »
Here's what I have:
1. Kymco Xciting 250.
2. Runs great
3. Has a noticible whine that starts at about 32 mph and continues until I can't hear it at about 50.

Here's what I have done.
1. Pulled variator to check the weights. everything looks good.
2. Pulled clutch just to check and make sure everything was cleaned and also checked to make sure the springs were all intact.
3. Cleaned all pulleys.
4. Bike has about 700 miles on it and the belt looks good obviously.

Bike is under warranty still, but I was hoping to either find something obvoiously causing the noise, or know that this noise is normal.

Comments?

Thanks all

Xciting 250 / Squealing noise what to look for
« on: April 28, 2013, 03:49:15 PM »
Took the 2010 Xciting 250 out for a first ride of the season yesterday. Rode ire truck heading towards me. about 15 miles and all of a sudden the bike started to squeal. It was so loud I originally thought there was a fire truck heading towards me. When I decided it was actually coming from my scoot I pulled over and the squealing stopped. This bike has less than 500 miles on it. I rode it back home and tried to figure out exactly where the noise was coming from but am still not sure. Tapping the brake levers did not affect the noise so I am suspecting the belt. Could my belt be bad with this low of mileage? Or is there something else I maybe should be looking for? Thanks for any suggestions.

FYI

I also got hit by a deer when my 250 Xciting only had 30 miles on it. After the hit the scoot slid about 1/8 mile and was still running when I hobbled over to it lying in a ditch. The dealership that repaired it told me that the scoot did NOT have a tip over kill switch like all my big bikes did over the years.

Xciting 250 / Handlebar plastic pieces
« on: October 15, 2012, 09:27:03 PM »
Can anyone tell me what type of screw is used to hold the handle bar sections together on the Xciting 250? I have not had any luck getting a screwdirver of any type to do anything and have tried several allen wrenches. No matter how I turn my head I can't seem to see up in the small hole.

I could use some help.

Thank you.

So where are you located? Kymco is doing a great job at bringing dealerships on board I think

I bought a left ovwe 2010 this year and it's a great scoot. I wouldn't hesitate at that price.

Grandvista 250 / Givi review
« on: September 15, 2012, 12:16:23 PM »
Just as a footnote, if anyone is interested.

I just replaced the shield on my wife's Grandvista with the Givi screen and she loves the difference. Says it makes her ride much more comfortable. So for us it was a good choice.

I id mention to them that I thought it should have been done before I picked it up sunce the bike had sat so long. He agreed. I then said at the very least the salkes folk should be mentioning this kind of thing when sell a bke like this. To at least give the customers  a heads up about a potential p[roblem.
