People 50 / Re: 2005 2-stroke People 50 fuel filter

Wordslinger et al,

I bought my 2003 PPL 50 from a guy in Wyoming. I heard that one is supposed to get a "drive boss" when purchased new. Is a drive boss a part easy to purchase or is it called something else? The seller did give me an Airsal kit that he purchased years ago. Does that accomplish the same thing?

Thanks again

Peters / Wordslinger

Now it makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up.

On the 2003 people 50, do you know if I just need to disconnect the green wire from the CDI to de-restrict or do I need to also change the spacer as described elsewhere in the forum.

Finally, in your opinion, is changing the CVT belt a challenging feat?

many thanks for your invaluable info.

Part 379 from that link is the one I'm seeking ($35)however an in-line filter ($7) seems much more reasonable. I appreciate the picture from wordslinger however, I am still confused about what I do with the vacuum line that dangles after installing an in-line fuel filter. To what do I connect it or attach?
Thanks also for the warning regarding getting to the reservoir for the brake fluid. Is it worth trying or better to take to a dealer nearly 15 miles away?
Finally, do I just need to disconnect the green wire on the CDI to de-restrict or do I need to replace the spacer as discussed in other posts? I have a 2003 People 50 2T.

My 2003 looks a little different than the photo. On the right rear under the seat there is a case with two screws holding a casing. Unscrew the case and inside is a fuel filter. I'm still cinfused as to what to do with the 3rd tube but I will contact the link that was sent.

Also, any suggestions regarding adding brake fluid? I can see the level from the right side of the throttle. The front is difficult to remove. Is the CDI under there also?

I read about replacing the Kymco fuel filter with a standard one from the auto store. It is difficult to find Kymco filters even at the dealer.
I have a 2003 People 50. The fuel filter casing has 3 tubes connected yet the new filters only have two connections. What do you do with #3?
Also, how do you add brake fluid? I can see the level from the right handle (throttle) however the cover seems almost impossible to remove? Any suggestions?
Thanks for any assistance to this newbie from Denver.
