Kymco News / Re: Downtown 300i with ABS?
« on: September 21, 2013, 10:51:46 AM »
The Honda Forza just came out in the UK. The dealers have demonstrators available so I had a test ride last week.
I took the Forza to a large private area, just me. Gave it everything then pulled on both levers hard. On my Like 200 I would have been thrown off. The Forza has ABS and CBS. I tried several times for a skid but could not get one no matter how hard I pulled on the brakes. On my last run I tried left lever only, at speed, and is still just stopped without any fuss.
I love the DT300 but the brakes on the Forza are mighty impressive. It’s a tough call. I had the Forza in black with the black screen and it is one good looking scoot.

Good luck in the race Scootermeister and may the force be with you.

The owner’s manual says the engine oil capacity is 0.95 quart or 0.9 litres.
I run a Suzuki Jimny 4x4 car and that has an oil change every 9000 miles.
I leave it for the shop to look after just for the first 2 years to keep the warranty valid

Hey you made me check my service manual. It’s definitely every 6 months or 6000 KM.

The figures I gave are from my owners manual but its a UK scoot. Strange that they are not the same. If you change the oil every 1200 miles that engine will run forever.

Just had mine serviced at the dealers. There is no filter on the 200i just a screen to clean. Service intervals are every 6 months or 3750 miles or 6000 KM.

Try this link to GPR exhausts. They do just the muffler or a full fruity system.
Cheers.

I found the rubber seal came off my storage box as well but pushed it all back in firmly using a credit card. 4 hands are better than 2 as it’s a fiddly job but I didn’t use any glue and it’s stayed in place.
I have covered 3200 miles since May and it’s not missed a beat. Lost a screw from the exhaust heat shield but that’s all. It goes for a 6 monthly service soon. Excellent scoot. Ride safe.

I use a 12v trickle charger every day. If you ride every week you won’t need one but you will if you leave your scoot for weeks at a time. Weather is rubbish here so not getting out as much as I would like.
I run the cables from the battery so they come out under the seat. Just lift the seat and plug in.
Keeps the battery tip top and extends its life.

I use this alarm disc lock from ebay uk. Makes a lot of noise if anyone trys to move your scoot. Comes with a pouch, 2 sets of batteries and a reminder that attaches to the left brake lever. check out the link.

Your right donandrews. Went to work this morning in the dark with a 15mm strip of black electrical tape on the top of the headlight. It cut out about 75% of the glare. I might be able to live with that or I might order some fancy tape of ebay and try it on the bottom of the screen.  Nice chrome headlight peak would do the job but I dont have the skill to make one. Will let you know how I get on. Thanks.

That’s a good idea. I left home this morning in the dark and there is some reflection at the bottom of the screen. I might try some chequered tape about an inch wide all the way along the bottom of the screen should look good.
