General Discussion / Traded Xciting for Burgman
« on: April 22, 2013, 02:24:41 PM »
Well, I have loved my 08 Xciting 250! I had riden a burgman 650 several years ago and loved the extra power. I do feel the Xciting handles better  ;D The bumble bee tail on the Xciting and my wife's legs did not agree and my wife's legs won. Hence the trade to the burgman. We will be able to do more riding together  ;)

Thanks for all the info I have gotten from you. You are a great bunch of riders. Time will tell, but I really loved the Xciting. I really wanted to go to a Xciting 500 and on the dealers had a used one in the fast red  :) But again, my wife's legs won out.

Oh, I will not miss the valve adjustments/checks on the 250! Not at all hard to do, execpt for the body panel removals. There should be a easier way to get to them! In three years I have put 16,000 miles on. Other than routine maintenance, tires, belt and rollers all is has been fine with the Xciting!

Good luck and ride safe!

Xciting 250 / Re: Air intake

My 2008 has a carb and I just replaced the whole air filter system with a pod filter. Starts and runs so that's good! I changed the plug too and will check it after a couple hundred miles to see if it is running lean or rich. I may have to change jets in the carb. We have 6 inches of snow and it's cold for now. It will be latter when I get some miles on it. I do not know what this change would do on a fuel injected bike.

I also thought the same thing when I changed my air filter. Have you made any changes to the intake yet?
