Yager GT 200i / Re: Need help on RPM fluctuations
« on: January 04, 2015, 04:44:51 PM »
Check your battery. Code 6 is a low battery. Could be loose connections or it's low
on voltage. I've seen similar problems on BMW F650's when the battery terminals
were loose.

Yager GT 200i / Re: New rear gearset?
« on: July 04, 2014, 08:54:22 PM »
I doubt there is any other gearset's for our scoot as it probably grew out
of a smaller engine. I have changed my cruising RPM's though by changing
the roller weight and filing a few things in the CVT...

People GT 300i / Re: ECM Reset
« on: April 21, 2014, 10:48:02 PM »
Here's how to clear the codes on the Yager;

SELF-DIAGNOSIS RESET (CLEAR
FAILURE CODES) PROCEDURE
(1) Turn ignition switch to OFF, open and
hold the throttle fully.
(2) Turn ignition switch to ON while the
CELP comes on, after 2 seconds the CELP
will be off.
(3) Close the throttle fully when the CELP
comes on again.
(4) When the CELP begins to blink that the
CELP denotes the failure codes.
(5) The self-diagnosis memory data will be
erased when all the failure codes has
showed 5 cycles.

I have a Yager 200 which is really a 170cc. It will just barely work on the freeway.
I can do 70 mph but it feels small out there. It does get 80 MPG and has a 3 gallon
tank though so I think it's just enough!

Xciting 500 / Re: Tire Pressure - Shock Settings?
« on: April 20, 2014, 06:59:42 PM »
Well according to this article underinflating can cause a failure but not over inflation;

Disadvantages of Underinflation

An underinflated tire can't maintain its shape and becomes flatter than intended while in contact with the road. If a vehicle’s tires are underinflated by only 6 psi it could lead to tire failure. Additionally, the tire’s tread life could be reduced by as much as 25%. Lower inflation pressure will allow the tire to deflect (bend) more as it rolls. This will build up internal heat, increase rolling resistance and cause a reduction in fuel economy of up to 5%. You would experience a significant loss of steering precision and cornering stability. While 6 psi doesn’t seem excessively low, remember, it usually represents about 20% of the tire’s recommended pressure.

Disadvantages of Overinflation

An overinflated tire is stiff and unyielding and the size of its footprint in contact with the road is reduced. If a vehicle's tires are overinflated by 6 psi, they could be damaged more easily when running over potholes or debris in the road. Higher inflated tires cannot isolate road irregularities well, causing them to ride harsher. However, higher inflation pressures usually provide an improvement in steering response and cornering stability up to a point. This is why participants who use street tires in autocrosses, track events and road races run higher than normal inflation pressures. The pressure must be checked with a quality air gauge as the inflation pressure cannot be accurately estimated through visual inspection.

I'm not sure why manufactures create a vehicle that has no support IE correct tires available...

My new car (Chevy Spark) uses 40 PSI to get better fuel economy and they were delivered from the dealer
at 45, 47, 42 ,42 PSI. Many gauges are not very accurate and if you fill at 32F when the weather warms
you have to recheck them...

Well look in your owners manual. If it says to tighten bolts then you should
have (or had someone else) tighten them. How many miles are on the scoot?

Well I run over pressure on my car all the time that's how you get the good mileage!
I'd guess you could go quite a bit over with no bad things happening. The max is
under the worst possible conditions it is guaranteed to stay working. I'd hope they
built in a margin of saftey. You might wear them out quicker though as they're in a
high stress situation...

Yager GT 200i / Re: Yager DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) List?
« on: April 18, 2014, 08:01:59 PM »
Not sure about that one. I had a Jeep that had intermittent codes never figured out why.
If their not current maybe it got a bit hot during break in? Though one would think a valid
reading is OK even if hot so might be a contact problem or software glitch?

Technical | How To / Re: Front forks
« on: April 13, 2014, 08:14:34 PM »
Well I've been inside my Yager's forks and the design definitely leaves much to be desired.

The compression and rebound are run through the same holes. Usually rebound is set to
counteract the spring and compression tries to account for different sized hits. With a standard
damper you get one size hit the fork works good at small or large take your pick. But with the
rebound controlled by the compression it's more complicated as too much and flow and the
rebound will be too fast.

I tried opening the damper holes 1mm and used some different oil but it didn't do much.
I made some new springs but needed a 17mm hex wrench to get the spring out so never
got those installed yet.

That being said you can try messing with the rear and see if you can find a good setting. I
did that with mine and am pretty happy with it most of the time!

General Discussion / Re: Fuel injector cleaner
« on: April 12, 2014, 09:25:31 PM »
Shouldn't be a problem. It's just petroleum spirits of some sort.
I think of injector cleaner as a better form of carb cleaner.

That being said some engines like cleaners and some don't. The
ones that don't run a little poorly for a while but no big deal.

Downtown 300 / Re: Gas smell in my oil
« on: April 11, 2014, 08:16:31 PM »
My Aprilia Scarabeo 500 had fuel smell in the oil too. I tried to find the problem
but then just assumed it was normal and rode it like that.

I think the design lets a bit of blowby into the crankcase....

General Discussion / Re: You ever ran out of gas?
« on: April 09, 2014, 09:06:39 PM »
My friend tells a story of running out of gas on the turnpike and coasting to a stop
in a closed gas station. He pushed the bike to each pump and squeezed out a few
drops each and got enough to get the rest of the way home!

I bought the Yager partially because it has a 3 gallon tank. You should never run a
fuel injected bike out of fuel as the gas pump lives in the tank and is cooled by the
fuel there...
