Just for everyone’s info.  A rep from Kymco did call back.  Just wanted to shoot that out there so noone doubts their customer service.

Since I have tried to call kymco for the last week and a half with no returned call I decided to tear it down myself.  I found that the clip on the end of the axle was gone.  This allows the axle to push off the gear for the lock.  I got paranoid and thought maybe it broke and fell inside the diff so I tore the diff out and broke it open.  I did not find the clip so this tells me the dealer did not put it on the axle when they did the previous work.

They would not help me since they dropped the kymco line... Wanyesburg Yamaha in Pa.

Just wanted to share incase someone has a problem like this in the future.

Never mind. It axles says right and left hand on the axle.

Can anyone tell me which side is which for the front axles.  One has a blue sticker and the other has a red.  I read on a prowler from if the axles are reversed then the lock won’t work.

Side By Side / Front diff issues

Hey guys,

So I’m having some issues with the front diff on the 450 and was wondering if anyone else had any.  Mine was fixed under warranty once.  I thought it had broke the spring inside but it broke a peice of metal that engages the 4x4. I just took it out on a muddy trip and noticed it’s intermittently working.   When it does catch it makes some pretty loud noises then stays engaged for a while but won’t stay in full lock.

I don't have any experience with removing the engine from a 700, but I know on my RZR when I removed the tranny it was easier to remove the front tiff to gain room to slide the driveshafts out. Not sure if that'll help.

Just not a big fan of plastic.  It's ok for a mud guard or some light use.  I'll look into weight differences of uhmw and aluminum.  Might have some stuff from the old jeep buggy to use.

Thanks man, we need to get some bumpers and a roof on that rig. I'm also a rep for Pacific Eagle UTV enclosures so let me know when you're ready for a windshield for your UXV450i and I can get you a better deal on them.

Here is a link to the windshields and enclosures.

Hopefully soon.  I also have a 3 month old at home.  Lol.  Really like the looks of your half front bumper.  Probably go with that.

I have also thought about a skid.   I was the one they build from Kymco for 600. That's a little steep.   I'm going to check on the cost of aluminum and see about making my own.  I may look into a sheet of uhmw as well.

Where does the front bumper bolt to the frame?

Very nice looking machine.  Love the back cage.  Hope you enjoy it.

Honestly I don't know if drilling a couple small holes in the frame will hurt integrity.  It's pretty beefy for the weight of the Kymco.  I think I will drill a couple to make sure water is out.  I take my 2 year old down to a creek to play multiple times a week. The road down has 2 creek crossings.

Hey guys

For those of you who go through fairly deep water with your 450s: make sure you pull a couple bolts out of the skid plate when your done.   Seems there is nowhere for the water to escape but obviously it gets in through a couple holes in the frame.  Might even drill some small holes to let it out.  I happened to notice the water run out when I took the skid off to route wires for my winch.   Ran for a good period.

« on: July 19, 2017, 12:04:29 PM »
Hi.

I just went through this same decision.  After speaking with the dealer, I went with the base.  I got a super winch online for $99 and really didn't care about wheels or paint to scratch up.  The roof your going to pay for regardless.  If you look on Kymco's website, under the picture it actually says its not standard so the dealer adds on the price.  Conceiving since its pictured, I know.   It's geared really well and won't power out.  It'll spin.

It was a carb model.  In fact, my dad bought one at the same time.  He has been on a lot of trail rides with us and is pretty hard on it.  His is the reason I came back to the brand because of a lack of issues I think all the uxv's are built well it just comes down to preference.
