Super 8 150 / Re: top speed
« on: March 26, 2013, 11:02:15 PM »
I took in mine for service and tune up and asked the guy about this. He said he works on a lot of Kymcos and from what he sees, it seems they ship them detuned so they operate at maybe 80% capacity. He speculated that this might be because the build quality is not top notch so by shipping them detuned (at 80%) this way the bikes last longer without service.

So given that I take mine on freeways from time to time, he is going to increase the intake and bring up the timing on the engine for it to perform at speedier speed, so we will see what means for top speed. I will report back then.

Just for info the number in the name is the amp hour.
IE YTZ10S = 10 amp hour.
You have to make sure a bigger one will fit. A place like this
http://www.batterystuff.com/batteries/motorcycle/
shows the sizes. AGM is better than standard lead acid too. This refers to the physical construction
of the internals. AGM has fiberGlass Mat that the acid soaks into...

Thanks DoubleSC!

The suggested one by DoubleSC seems to fit fine as a)he is using it in his super 8 and b)measurements check out fine against the space in my scooter.

You may want to take a look at the larger capacity YTZ10S (or TTZ10S) which has very slight dimension differences.  I got one from a seller on Amazon. It fit fine, and was much cheaper than the orignal YTX7A-BS as well.

Thanks! there are different brands for YTZ10S (Yuasa $120 or TMS $25)....which one did you get then?

Get the biggest and with the highest amp that will fit your compartment...

Thanks! I should mention I am noob when it comes to Voltage and Amps, so I don't know what the biggest and highest amp the super 8 150 can take/use?

Super 8 150 / Battery recommendations?
« on: March 25, 2013, 01:13:16 AM »
How do I find out how good/bad my battery is in...feels like it runs out of charge very quickly (after ~1 week days of not using it)

Also, any recommendations for batteries for the super 8 150?
