People 250 / Re: Bike died out on freeway!
« on: September 18, 2012, 02:06:59 PM »
There's a short hose under the carb that dangles and is cut off. Doesn't connect to anything. Now when I crank the bike gas leaks out of here. Gas has never came out of this hose as far as I know. Any ideas???

Well I cleaned the carb and it still won't start. Called kymco and talked to steve. Told him my scenario. He insults me  and says well I can tell you don't have a lot of mechanical background. I just smirked to myself and told him more thoroughly all the things I have checked on my bike. He says i should check the compression. Well I don't have a compression meter and this thing only has 20k miles on it. What do you guys think I should do? Pursue repair or suck up my losses and try to sell it?

I pulled gas inlet to carb and it pumps gas when I crank it. I pulled spark plug and it sparks when cranked. I even put in a new one. I'm just a little fed up with working on this bike. With the headlights not working due to faulty head light modulator, speedometer cable braking or coming loose and a few broken body panels I'm ready to part with it. Not to mention the expensive parts and the wait to get them.

My 2007 people s 250 just dies out on me while I was on the freeway, far left lane nontheless! Pulled to the right as quick as I could almost getting hit in the process. Had to push it bout 3/4 mi to a friends house. It will not start but just cranks. Not sure what the problem is. The carb is getting gas but I don't have the proper socket for the spark plug to see if its sparking. Bout to put this thing on craigslists I guess.

People 250 / Re: Faulty Headlight Controllers
« on: June 25, 2012, 02:42:23 PM »
I see how that causes a problem Vivo. Unfortunately the only way around the headlight dimming as you coast downhill is to bypass it. Which is something I plan on doing in my People S 250.
Joe Wofford basically said he doesnt believe the People S 250 headlight controllers are bad due to "only" 49 being shipped over 5 years of production. He even admitted that that is 10 more units then he thought it would be. He said: "My suggestion is to get the new module, but check you system to make sure your main harness ground is secure and that the contacts in your light switches are clean and making good contact.  A bad ground or bad connections can cause some damage to the module."

People 250 / Faulty Headlight Controllers
« on: June 07, 2012, 08:08:48 PM »
I talked to J Wofford today about Kymco's headlight controllers going bad on their bikes. He said he will investigate. I have replaced my headlight controller once on my 2007 People S 250 a couple months ago and it is already acting up. If anyone has any headlight controllers issue please chime in in this thread. Thanks and I will update you all with Kymco's response.

This a problem other kymco bikes have to. You can google it. I replaced mine on my 2007 Kymco People S 250 a few months ago. The new one is already acting up with the headlights not always working. Anyone know a way to wire headlights around this faulty device? Im gonna contact kymco about this. Im not going to keep buying a faulty $40 part.

People 250 / Re: People S 250 Aftermarket Replacement Part List
« on: June 06, 2012, 08:05:47 PM »
Will any of the parts above cross over to the older (2006) People 250?  I'd really like to improve the brake pads/disks from stock...

Yes they do.
Brembo front pads are 07033. I think the brake discs are the same because the Kymco part numbers are the same. I think the rear pads are different because the Kymco part number are different.

Just a heads up if you've never heard of them or tried ordering parts from them, but StadiumYamaha is excellent for OEM KYMCO parts.  http://www.stadiumyamaha.com/pages/OemParts?aribrand=KYM

Their prices are good, you can order ANY part, and they are FAST.  I ordered a part from them and got it in 3 days.

Yes I know about Stadium Yamaha, kymcoparts123, PartsPitstop, Gearhead, etc. where you can get OEM parts shipped to you. As stated I compiled this list for aftermarket parts for when OEM parts are harder to get, out of stock, or more expensive. Also some people may want to upgrade certain parts to a more higher performance part over the OEM.

Looks like fun!

General Discussion / Re: Gun control and Politics
« on: June 02, 2012, 10:46:41 PM »
I live in the state of Michigan in the USA. Here you are allowed to own rifles, handguns, and tasers(if you have a concealed pistol license). This state is also an open carry state meaning you can carry a rifle or pistol on your person as long as it is visible and not concealed. No special license is needed to open carry but the gun must be registered. To conceal a pistol on your person requires a concealed pistol license. As long as your record is good with no felonies, assaults, etc. you can get a CPL. You are allowed to carry as many guns on your person that can fit and there are no restrictions on magazine/clip size, like in some states like California that only allows 10 rounds in the clip/magazine.
Check out this youtube vid of a Michigander open carrying a AK-47 assault rifle LOL. May not be safe for work as he uses swear words.

If your wondering why he doesnt have to show id, its because you only have to show id if you are under suspicion of committing a crime. Since open carry is legal its basically the same as if he was just merely walking down the street without a gun.

People 250 / People S 250 Aftermarket Replacement Part List
« on: June 02, 2012, 10:11:21 PM »
I have compiled a list of replacement parts for the People S 250 that are made by the aftermarket. This list can come in handy when OEM parts are more expensive, are not in stock, or just take longer to get. Just search on Google or ebay with these part numbers to find the best price. Feel free to add to his list. Hope this helps.
