General Discussion / Re: Super 8 150 Problem Please Help
« on: August 16, 2014, 07:01:32 PM »
Had the same thing happen to my 2012 Super 8 150. It's the 7 amp fuse blown. It will keep blowing the 7 amp fuse over and over.
When you run out of spares, you may not be able to find more.
I went to every bike shop and every auto parts store in my area, and no one carried a 7 amp glass fuse.
I replaced it with a 7.5 amp fuse, which was the closest I could find anywhere, and it hasn't blown since.

I bought the 7A replacement fuse on Ebay. BUSSMANN AGX-7A, Five for $7.35 and free shipping.

Sounds like something may have shorted out due to the rain. Open the battery compartment at the bottom of the floorboard and check your fuses. You have three of them and maybe one or more are blown. If so, you have replacements in the compartment so replace any blown fuse(s) with the appropriate amperage fuse. I believe two are 10Amps and one is 7Amps. Hopefully this will be a simple fix.

When my kill switch is on, the starter is disengaged;same for every motorcycle/scooter I've ever owned.

Roadcraft / Re: Gloves

Make a fist and look at all the things that stick out. Then TRY ON every glove you can find that covers those parts with thick padding/armor. In a fall we tend to make a fist.

But you have to try them on. I've found gloves and boots the hardest to get the right fit.

Sorry, but I would disagree. No one makes a fist when falling;most people open their hands to break their fall so you need the most protection on the palms.

I wear the same protective gear(full face helmet, jacket, boots, gloves) riding my Super8 scooter that I wore riding my Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle. The consequences of going down are the same regardless of what you happen to be riding or how far you're going.

General Discussion / Re: Possible mirror extension?
« on: July 17, 2014, 07:39:06 PM »
I have CNC mirror extenders on my Super8 150 and love them. They are 8mm threads and are a perfect fit. The  black finish has oxidized to a dark bronze, but still look good. Most importantly, they  increase the view to the back and sides.

Thanks for posting. I've been thinking of getting those same tires so it's nice to see some comments on them.

Not sure what kind of sports motorcycle mirrors you are referring to, but up until a month ago, I owned a Kawasaki Ninja Sports motorcycle and the mirrors were not as usable as the stock Kymco ones . Using the extenders with the stock Kymco mirrors gives me a better rear and side view than the ones on my motorcycle.

Don't worry. You didn't hurt your scooter. There are different schools of thought on the best way to treat a new engine. Some say that you should run them hard, some say ride it as you would normally ride and some say follow the mfg recommendations. The debate goes on, but one thing that is important is that you not spend a sustained period running at the same speed during the break-in period so vary your speed as you ride. Don't abuse it, but I don't believe you need to baby it either. Just ride it with respect and you will be fine.
