hi Joe7911 ,I am very surprised and shocked that you have had problems with your dt300  to the point that you had to sell it ,please let us know exactly what type of computer issue you had and could it not be fixed ? ,i would like to know as i am a dt300 owner and perhaps this would help in the future.  :-[

The computer problem is the idle. I have to keep resetting the computer every few days, if not when you started it in the middle of the day it would shut off unless you hold the throttle for a few seconds. This would only happen when hot, not in the morning when it was cold. The computer reset fixed it but comas back. It more of a nuisance than a major problem but I like the bike running perfect.

I have had abproblem with my seat. The problem I had with the computer could be fixed , I'm sure but like I said dealer is over 50 miles away and got this deal tha I liked. The Kymco is a great bike but rigor omits are not the best. The 500 has better egornomics than the 300 or the 700.
I like the parking brake Nd adjustBle seat on the 500.
I traded for the Burgman because the deal I got and bike has everything I wanted. The 700 if they add adjustable seat and windshield also lower the seat a little then it would be a great contender.
I tested the BMW, My Road 700, Honda Silverwing and the Burgman. All about same power,  size and Price. That is how I made my choice.

Downtown 300 / Sold my Kymco

I finally sold my Kymco, I thought I was keeping it for a while and even purchased the new windshield for it but lately the computer started acting up, the dealer is so far away. So I looked around and found a great deal in a New 2013 Suzuki Burgman 650 with 0.0 interest. Rolled my Kymco that I was way upside down and now I'm on the Burgman 650. Very sweet ride, specially after test driving the My Road 700, a huge difference in bikes its almost like night and day, only similarity is the engine. But that is were it stops, And for barely $1000.00 List price. But with special deal and financing that did it made it cheaper.

I think at 5'2 even the Puig is going to be too tall the Givi is even taller so unless you get one and have it cut. (I don't recommend that) your best solution for now is stay with the Factory windshield.
I'm 5'9" and mine is about ½ inch below my eye site. The only real test is to get a piece of cardboard and please it over the factory windshield you sit on bike and have someone move it up to were you are comfortable then with tape secure to windshield and take your measurement. This way you will know what you need.
Hope this helps.

Downtown 300 / Re: engine oil drain screw?
« on: April 07, 2014, 10:16:15 PM »
ACTUALLY I DRAIN THE OIL HOT AS WELL BUT I REMOVE THE BIG PLUG, THE OIL SCREEN AND THEN THE FILTER ON THE OTHER SIDE. BY OPENING BOTH SIDES IT ALSO DRAINS FAST AND GETS ANY METAL FILLINGS OUT.
AS FOR THE OIL IN THE ENGINE AND THE TRANSMISSION I USE 100% SYNTHETIC OIL AND A NEW FILTER EVERY TIME ON ALL MY BIKES, I ALSO CHANGE THE SPARK PLUG WITH AN IRIDIUM PLUG WITH EVERY OIL CHANGE. I WAN'T MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE AND MINIMIZE BREAKDOWN AS MUCH LESS ENGINE WEAR.
MOST OF THIS SCOOTERS ARE ONE CYLINDER AND SOME BIG ONES 2 CYLINDER SO I CAN'T AFFORD SPARK PLUG FAILURE FOR $7.00 ITEM PLUS GET BETTER PERFORMANCE.

I Have 2012 DT 300i and on mine the big black nut is the oil drain and with needle nose pliers you can pull the oil screen same location, The oil filter is other side of the bike.
Careful with "O" rings they get nicked easy. Torque on oil bolt should be 14-21LB.
On the transmission bolts the filler and drain torque is 5-8LB also the aluminum watcher on drain plug is supposed to get replaced but I get about 3 uses each on mine. The long as you don't over tighten.

I have a Puig installed on my bike not a Givi. I have the original windshield and I thought you was looking for one.
As for meeting in the city is fine but I live in Miami, Florida  and I believe you are in the north.

I would take $80.00 for the factory windshield. I even found a monitor box that should work fine. I would need zip code and address to get you exact shipping.
If you like we can communicate on regular email or call me. If you don't want to post that kind of information.

Downtown 300 / Re: How do you measure acceleration?
« on: April 04, 2014, 05:46:52 PM »
I don't know if Android has it but I have an app on my iPhone called Speedometer and it is FREE. looks like an analog speedometer with trip odometer.
The only other thing I can think is the GPS app from Garmin also measures speed.
Hope this helps

I change my spark plug going from the left side. Put bike on center stand, lay down right behind the stand and you can get one hand in with a swivel and ratchet. Its not that hard but beats having to take everything apart.
Make sure you start the new one by hand and you will also need to screw off the cap on the plug.
I use Iridium NGK and get great results.
