Jprestonian, We can do it together if you want (Just stop by one evening). I usually ask my wife to help me for the rear brake bleeding.

If I had to guess I would say you have air in the braking line. You can easily check you rear pads on the grand vista by removing the plastic cover on the rear caliper. It allows you to see the wear of your pads. It is is more dificult for the front break.
I will first bleed the break fluid and if it does not fix the problem...change the pads and look for any oil or grease on the disc.

I change my brake pads every year on my grand vista (every 4 to 6K miles). It is very easy to do it yourself. You just have to remove 2 screws....remove the caliper from the discs.....remove the 2 pads......push back the piston.....install the new pads......put back the caliper on the disk and reinstall the 2 screws...you are done. 15 minutes and $25 for the pads.

Their performance on a wet asphalt  is poor. I do prefer the michelin pilot city or pilot sport.
The performances of the pilot city are great but will last only  3 500 miles. The pilot sport (the one I have right now) will do about 5 or 6 000 (I did  3 000 miles already).
I was not feeling confident with the maxis.........(security first)

I did 10 000 miles with the original maxis tires. Now I do about 4 000- 5 000 miles with michelin tires. If I were you I would change them for good tires like Michelin or pirrelli.

For a reason that I do not explain I do have to turn the gas during summer when the scoot is exposed to the sun. My scoot is easier to start on winter.

You can find it everywhere even in wall mart. It is also regestered as auto oil.
