Super 8 150 / Re: New super 8 questions.
« on: March 13, 2015, 01:04:40 PM »
Sadly the new Super 8's have 12 inch wheels instead of the 14 inch we have on the 2013's. (I have a blue one!) I would love it if the seat and naked bars were available for our models but I get the distinct feeling they won't be cheap if they are. I really want the digital instrument cluster!

I would deffinately go with the People. If you are planning to commute on the bike the larger wheels will make a big difference in town and on the highway. I bought a Super 8 150 over the Agility for that very reason. I ride in town at speeds from 30 to 50 and could not imagine having a 10 or 12 wheel hit a pot hole at speed and have my wheel dissappear! It may be paranoia but peace of mind is priceless!

Technical | How To / Re: Have a Super (8) question!

So update I finally got off of work early enough to check out the bike and low and behold it started with the electric start and ran ok. I took it around the yard and it seems to be running a little sluggish but otherwise fine. It is 72 degrees here now also. Could the cold have temporarily zapped the battery? I'm thoroughly perplexed!

Technical | How To / Have a Super (8) question!
« on: December 20, 2013, 01:01:41 PM »
Thought I would pose this to the board for review. I have a 2013 Super 8 150 that I bought brand new earlier this year. I typically ride to work 4 days a week (weather permitting) and the trip is about 15 minutes each way in stop and go traffic. Last week I went to get on it and hit the starter and bubkis! It had been about 4 days since I had ran it and it was about 32 degrees so I thought that maybe the battery had just gone out. Kick started it and let it warm up for about 5 minutes and when I went to take of the it would not even rev before it died. Started it again and it idled fine but the moment I roll on the throttle it dies. Now all the lights work and other than the starter not going all seemed fine. My question is can the battery be so dead it is killing the bike? I thought that once it was running the battery should not affect the motor. Further more how much do I need to ride to keep the battery charged Nd shouldn't it have lasted longer? I am going to bring it to the dealer as soon as I can borrow a trailer but would love to see if this is easily resolved! Thanks in advance!!

General Discussion / Re: Getting the young'ens on a bike.

From what I understand yes sales have dropped off on new bikes over the last few years but that doesn't mean that the bikes aren't out there. Take a look at Craigslist and look at the number of bikes being sold there. I think that with the state of the economy these days it makes a lot more financial since to either buy a used bike for half the price of a new one or hang onto the one you allready have since most of the modern bikes are built to last a lot longer. The only reason I bought my Super 8 new a few months ago was because of the great financing deal I got. If I would have had the cash at hand I probably would have bought a used one. (First bike for me btw) I think that young people are getting into the sport just not in a way that corporate America can quantify!

New poster to the board, been reading for a few months but really had to chime in on this one!

Down here in south Louisiana (Lafayette specifically) we are in the heart of Cajun country!!! Within a 45 mile radius you can see Avery Island where they make Tobasco sauce, take a swamp tour in the Atchafalaya Basin, or tons of other things!!! We are stepped in history here with plantation homes up and down the bayous, so many things to do. Depending on when you come you may even get to check out one of the many festivals we have every year!

Food wise there is no where I have ever been that had better food than here and I have traveled quite a bit!!! As far as restaurants go there are SO many to choose from!!! The one that seems to get a lot praise for a good sampling of good food is Fezo's. There are 2 locations, one in Scott and one in Crowley. Both are great. There are TONS of places with excellent Cajun cuisine. Too many to list here.
