Hi Wayne, when you say that you have taken the seat off are you including the seat 'bucket' and the side panels around it? Once you have you cannot miss the rectifier fixed to the frame tube at the back. Once you have identified it you can check that you have been given the correct replacement. To my knowledge the rectifier is the same as its always been and never been altered.
Can you post a photo of this box you describe?

Well Joey you have brought something new to this forum after all. Childish arrogance and an obvious insecurity.
I notice you show yourself as having a Kymco Sento, so why all the jealous postings on the Agility forum?
I think your constant whinging about Agility top speed betrays a good degree of self pity and self annoyance cos you wish that you had got an Agility instead of your sento.
What happened ? are you regularly overtaken by a local guy on an Agility? is this the source of your anger and envy?
Chill out, let it go and just enjoy going to the local store to pick up your mommas shopping on your toy town trainer scoot.
I am just looking back through the threads to see if you listed the first day that you rode it without stabiliser wheels on the back.

Hi all, I guess he means that the starter is just about meeting the resistance of the engine compression and then has no more to give! You often hear on cars these winter mornings when due to the cold the starter can just about make a bit of noise but doesn't really turn the engine over.

Its a battery fault for sure.

Any 50cc unrestricted will hit 40mph, even chinese duds. If they didnt then no-one would buy them world wide. Honda 50's etc were capable of 40mph fifty years ago. If you check out the horse power of the machine you will see that 40 is realistic. My a50 hits a gps checked 41mph on level ground with no wind and I weigh 254 pounds.
The variator has an effect on top speed due to its profile. One variator profile might be such that the belt is carried higher up the pulleys therefore a higher gear effect is produced. Another variator with a profile biased towards acceleration would have a profile that favours the belt into a tighter smaller configuration so lowering the gearing. By the way nearly all so-called peformance variators come supplied with a new variator boss that is reduced in length so allowing the variator faces to be closer together and raising the overall gearing.

In my time I have owned Honda c50,c70,c90,s50,ss50, Suzuki a50, ap50, Yamaha fs1e, townmate, Rd50, Mobylette 50, Raliegh 50, Puchmaxi, Piaggio zip50, Velo Solex. I have spent a lot of time on 50's doing a genuine 40MPH!!

If your unrestricted 50 cannot achieve 40mph then there is something wrong with it.

The only mention of 45mph was with derestricted engines. An indicated 45mph would actually be 40mph which is pretty usual for any 50cc machine without restrictions.

Hi, your scoot runs on the charger without the battery connected because all the chargers power is going to the starter and cdi coil ignition. As soon as you connect the battery the power from the charger is now going into the battery, There is it seems not enough power left to start the scoot.
Its strange that the same thing happened even after you changed the battery for a new one. The odds aginst being given another dud battery are pretty high so maybe the new battery supplied was flat or nearly flat after being stored. That would explain why the power from the charger could not get past the battery and start the scoot. Try charging the new battery at least overnight and have another go at starting. Make sure the battery connections are clean, give them a quick rub with abrasive paper before doing them up good and tight. Dab some Vaseline ( petroleum jelly ) over the connections to keep them clean and corrosion free.

When you refit your charged battery use or borrow a voltmeter to check the voltage of the battery before trying to start. It should be around 12.4 volts or so. WHen the scooter starts check the voltage reading again, it should show 13.3 volts or so. This confirms that your charging circuit is working okay and the battery will be kept charged. Then turn the lights on and check the voltage again. It should still be 13.3 volts or so, this confirms that the generator output is good. If the voltmeter shows that there is something wrong with the scoots charging circuit the first and cheapest component to suspect is the rectifier ( under the seat pan). Not too expensive and easy to get.

good luck

Hi Ewan, i am outside fitting a new belt to my scoot. I will take a photo of the oil drain bolt and post it here as soon as I finish.

I was hoping there would be some replies to this question as i have heard reports of 5mph increases with screen due to smoother airflow.

Thanks for the help guys. The idea of the wobbling pulley is I am sure the cause of my problems. I still have my original restricted boss that I will grind down to smooth and refit.
I will also checkout the sliders.

Agility 50 / scoot eating belts
« on: September 08, 2013, 11:45:41 AM »
Hi all, as I have now bought a pricey kevlar belt I have been taking another look at my variator set up. I ground a couple of mm off the end of the variator boss to ensure that the belt rides all the way up the pulley face. This it did and gave me an easy 5mph increase. But looking again today I see that because the bush is shorter that the variator fixed plate ( complete with starter teeth all round ) is not in line with the clutch rear pulley. It seems that the belt has been rubbing at an angle in the variator and even getting scrapped by the teeth on the pulley. I am going to refit a smooth and standard length boss and see how i get on but I will sure miss that extra 5pmh.

My idea for plan b !!  Could i fit a washer behind the moving variator between the variator and the crankcase bearing in order to achieve the same effect as shortening the boss?

Agility 50 / Re: 2013 Kymco Agility 50 starting and running issues
« on: August 24, 2013, 07:00:31 PM »
If your scoot runs okay after filling the tank then it looks even more likely that fuel starvation is the problem. The valve clearances would not produce thses symptoms as the engine output would be poor and poor all the time. as i say if its better just after filling up then its because the full tank is pressurising the fuel line to some extent and there is no need for air to enter the tank to replace the used fuel.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Hi, sounds like fuel starvation . Enough fuel gets into the carb for the engine to start but not enough is getting in to last it far. Try starting and running it with the fuel cap slightly undone , enough so that air can get into the tank to replace the fuel going to the engine.

thanks for the info, i must admit the belts i have been using are the cheapest around. I guess its a false economy. Thinking back when i left home the scoot was rolling along at 45mph but as the journey progressed it got slower and slower before it finally snapped the belt. I had just changed to 5.5g rollers the day before and the scoot seemed to rev higher than before. Last week i fitted an a9 cam and a 1000 torque spring. My guess is that the light weight rollers and the stronger clutch spring caused the belt to slip. that would explain the strange noises before it snapped. When I think back the scoot was 'checking' itself as if the brake was rubbing now and again. So i reckon the light 5.5g rollers were not causing the variator to grip the belt enough. The belt was slipping and getting pretty hot in the process before it gave up.

Tomorrow I plan to put 8.5g  rollers in with a kevlar belt. Fingers crossed.

Well here I am again with a snapped/chewed belt. Moments before it went there was a slight scraping sound. Took the cvt cover off and there is no sign of rubbing on the inside of the cover. The kickstart 'half-moon' was polished along the bottom edge. I just cant figure out if this happened when the belt snapped or if it was the cause of the fault. How could the belt rub along the gear crescent ? Its as if the belt was out of line.
