Hey Zombie (And Chlinc sorry for stealing your post!)

Just a quick question based on your last post.  With all you have listed what would you estimate the cost of that being? ~$400?  Also, say I were to follow your advice, what kind of performance increase would I be expecting from this?  Just trying to figure out if doing something like this would be worth my while vs. just living with how the scooter currently performs!  Thanks a head of time!

If you have ever driven in California, where this is legal, it freaks the living feces out of you.  Those guys just don't cautiously stroll by the cars, they fly past them sometimes over taking at around 30-40 mph faster than the traffic.  They even have signs telling you to double check before you change lanes.  Every time I'm there for business I just never cross the lanes in fear I will hit one.

Hey Guys!

Ya'll really helped me out when I first got this thing for free because it didn't run. Got it running now and thought would show you guys the progress!  Just finished a two week "restoration" to really make the thing mine.  Still have things that I want to do to it, but that I will save for next winter, which in Wisconsin, is probably only a few short months away.

I uploaded this to an imgur album because I figured that would be the easiest way.  If anyone has trouble viewing let me know and I will try to remedy the situation.

I know this is a little late, and not sure if you have done it already.  But I did the rear ones and am working on getting the front ones to work as well.  Looking at it, would just need to extend the wires down to the new area, put a new bulb mount assembly in, and will be good to go!

I know what you guys are saying about the Harley riders.  I'm in the heart of Harley country...Milwaukee, WI.  But for the most part I don't get much grief from them.  They will either wave, nod, or do some other form of acknowledgement or do nothing at all.  A couple of times you will get the snide remark from one of them but I don't care.  They paid over $10k for their ride, where I got mine for $1 and ~$120 for parts.  I did have two good encounters with other bikers though, one was a Harley group up here for the Harley anniversary and they loved the bike, and another was from a sport bike who said my little ride "hauled ass."

I guess the main thing is, no matter what you do in life, there will always be someone that will give you trouble.  As long as you enjoy what you are doing and it's morally right, it shouldn't bother you.

Hey Zombie!

Do you by chance have a pic of what the tires look like on your ride, good sir?  Mainly just trying to get an idea of what the bigger tire looks like once installed so I have a better idea of what I want the bike to look like.  It would be greatly appreciated!  I will be doing a before and after in a little bit once I get all the parts for my scoot in!

Zombie,

Thank you for the response.  Do you notice any difference in handling or performance by having a 130 for both front and rear?  I noticed a lot of people had a smaller front than the rear.  Just curious because I was thinking of doing the same thing.

zx50 / Tire Size Question
« on: April 19, 2014, 11:30:01 PM »
Hey Guys,

So finally got some nice weather here in Milwaukee (above 50 & snow is finally all gone) and I got the old scoot up and running.  So now it's time to get it into ridable condition so when the really nice weather hits I can ride more often.

The main thing is, I need a new front tire.  I did as much research on this forum as I could find in terms of tires and tire sizes.  I see a lot of people like the Avon Viper but I am not one of that cleaner look. I was thinking something more along these...

http://www.amazon.com/Duro-HF903-Dual-Sport-Scooter/dp/B000VVU79W/ref=pd_sim_sbs_auto_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0K9C47AX9BE8ZXJTCT2Y

Anyone run tires similar to these?  I want something with a little more "meat" to them considering this past winter was an absolute hell on our roads.

Also, I am really foreign on the tire sizes.  I understand what the numbers mean.  The tires I currently have on there are 110/70-12 for the front and 120/70-12 for the rears.  My question is, could I go up 10mm on the section width without having to change the rim?

Has anyone also tried putting a tire on there with a higher aspect ratio than the stock 70? Or does changing the section width give you enough of increase to risk rubbing?

The people with attitude are the crotch-rocket boys. They snub their nose at anything that can't cruise at 100MPH

Actually,  I have another couple of experiences! All around the same spot (so maybe it's just the people in that area.  I actually had a lot of Harley riders waving to me all during that week.  And with the crotch rocket ones, I was thinking the same one as I was heading home after a kick-ball league game.  I saw a guy on a sport bike behind me and I was going down hill and hitting like 45 or so and he comes pulling up next to me and again I thought "Oh great here we go.  Start making fun of me" but instead he says "That little thing hauls some ass!"  I had a chuckle and say "It does even with my fat ass on it!"  He laughed.  He said his speedo didn't work so he gauges his speed off of other people and feel and he just saw me taking off from him on the downhill.  He seemed like a cool guy.  At the green light we rode side by side until he honked, waved, and took the on ramp for I-94.  I guess maybe just lucky with good experiences so far but still prepared for the heckling that will surely be received at some point in time.

General Discussion / Fun Experience This Weekend
« on: September 03, 2013, 01:26:31 AM »
Hey Guys,

Just thought I would share with you a pretty fun experience I had this weekend riding around Milwaukee.  This weekend was the 110th anniversary of Harley Davidson and has a huge turn out for Harley riders from all over the world.  They are literally everywhere around the greater Milwaukee area.  Well I was in a suburb (Wauwatosa for anyone familiar with the area) and came to a stop light.  Saw in my mirror some Harley riders coming upon me and the lead guy stopped next to me and started looking at me.  I thought...Oh great...Gonna start giving me sh** for being on my little 50cc sparkly purple moped.  But he started actually complimenting me about it and talking.  He asked me where I was going and I said just around.  He asked if I wanted to join them.  I said "Are you f'ing with me?" He said no, and that they were from Colorado and this was their first time here and wanted to see the area if I could help show them around.  So I said sure.  The fun part was seeing a guy on a purple moped riding with 13 other Harley riders through the streets.  We pulled into a parking lot and they all took turns buzzing around on it in the lot and were surprised how much power that little thing had for a 50cc.  I had a blast the whole time and enjoyed seeing the looks on peoples faces in the street with me in the lead of these guys.  They were all cool people and it was quite the experience.  Thought you guys would all like to hear about that and possibly share some similar experiences of your own!

zx50 / Spark Plug Frame Interferance
« on: August 14, 2013, 03:21:46 AM »
Hey Guys,

Back with more!  Since I had to replace my coil with an aftermarket one after ripping it in half accidentally (similar design to this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Performance-Coil-Carburetor-model-Cygnus-X-BWS-125-YW125-NXC125-/231032338270?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item35ca99b75e )  I installed it and worked just fine.  After riding around for a bit the bike quit again.  Thankfully was close to home so I pushed it the two blocks back.  Upon inspection I saw that the boot had been shattered and left dangling.  Looking at the plug, the terminal stud was bent down.  I put in a new plug and just said "Screw the boot" and put the coil wire directly onto the stud for just S's & G's.  It started right up again like nothing happened.  Took it on a little ride because why not...curiosity I guess to see if this hillbilly jimmy rig could actually work (even though I know it's not getting the proper airflow across engine)  After checking out the new plug again I noticed that the stud was bent down slightly again.  With trouble shooting it appears that the frame of the bike is hitting on the stud when I hit a bump and compress the rear spring.  Was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this or since I am the size of a NFL tight-end should I change the stiffness of my rear spring?  Thanks again guys!  Just want to ride more on this $130, 3k mile super fever!
