I'm pretty certain the battery is dead - I'm getting no charging lights for it when I connect it to my Optimate 4.
Do these scooter's need a working battery for the indicators to function correctly? I've got several battery-less bikes and everything works fine on them without a battery (as long as the engine is turning). The headlights etc. all function just the brightness varies with the revs - guess it could be battery then instead of regulator.

Hello,
I'm trying to fix a problem on a ZX50 for a pal of mine.
The blinkers/indicators make a horrible buzzing noise on tickover - if I accelerate up they then start to flash and then accelerating more and they go to solid (not flashing). Coming off the accelerator they slow down then speed up then go off.
The battery is very dead and the starter hasn't worked since he got it (inherited it off his older brother but has been sat for a good few years in his mum's garage).
I've tried reading the voltage across the regulator and it seems to be about 6v on tickover and then goes up to about 16v with the accelerator. I'm thinking that the regulator needs replacing - would I be right or is there something else that is causing this
?
