Agility 125 / Re: Agility 125 good starter w/o EFI ???
« on: September 01, 2013, 01:19:15 AM »
I have had both types and had problems with both. Carbs don't like to sit for long periods with gas in them but if you ride at least several times a week all year they will love you and perform very well. MY current agility 125 has not shown any real carb problems and always starts right up. Previously I had a Zuma 125 that left me stranded due to a failed fuel pump and the part was not available so I had to trade it in, otherwise I would still be riding it. My dealer would have sold the 2013 Agility 125 to me for $1750 but I added a helmet, battery tender pigtail plus $250 cashback to me into the 1.9% financing deal from Kymco. Still paid less than what your dealing is asking. Prices vary location to location. They are even cheaper in WI or MN.

Agility 125 / Re: New Agility 125...Basket Question
« on: September 01, 2013, 01:07:19 AM »
If it is a wire steel basket you should be able to mount it to the rear rack using stainless steel hose clamps. Or some stainless strips above the basket and below the rear rack bolted together.  In a pinch some heavy nylon zip ties would work as well.

You are very fortunate to have a wife that enjoys scooting and you know happy wife, happy life. So you did the right thing buying her the scooter SHE wanted. Looks like she has a very nice ride and having the odometer record miles instead of KM is a plus.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/281128623557  I bought these and they work very well. I really like the mirrors on the Super 8 too but they are probably more expensive.

General Discussion / Re: KYMCO LICENCE PLATE HOLDER---SMALL IN AMERICA
« on: August 28, 2013, 06:18:12 PM »
Picked up the official Kymco US license tag adapter today. It is obviously a universal design flat heavy steel plate. It doe not allow enough room for washers and nuts between the rear fender and plate so special fasteners must be found. I returned this $6.95 part even though the dealer did not charge me for it. Don't bother with this part.

Agility 125 / Re: Question about Agility 125 starting issue
« on: August 26, 2013, 04:41:08 PM »
You didn't say how long it sat but you may have a clogged jet so the engine is not getting enough gas to mix with normal air flow. Cleaning out the carb may help.

8/12/13 Precise fill up to same point. Start 346.2 fill up at 478.7. Went 132.5 km  used .800 gal. that equals 165.63 kpg. or 102.9 mpg uncorrected for odometer error. Estimate 5% optimistic error -6.63km  149.05 kpg. or 92.6 mpg.

9/12/13 Second fill up at 612.1 km. took .917 of 100% gasoline 91 octane. Went 133.4 km used .917 gal. 145.5 kpg or 90.4 mpg uncorrected. Fuel gauge seemed to read higher in the white zone for the amount of fuel needed this time. I was surprised.

Enjoyed all your videos. Thanks for posting. In the last video, Scooter movie, it looks like you ran the stop sign at 2:19 and then looped back to the scene of the crime near the end of the video. ;-)  By the way I have a T shirt that says Just Gotta Scoot. Welcome aboard.

Today I went by the dealer and he called Kymco about the license plate bracket.  Normally the part costs $6.95 but he is getting them for free under Kymco warranty program. So I will have one next week for free.

Haven't used gps yet but road next to my sons bike - he was doing 40 mine showed 42  so lets call it 5% optimistic. One of these days I will borrow my wife's GPS  and know for sure.

The thinking is that diesel engines put more strain on engine oil so that oil has to meet higher standards than gasoline engines. Anyway I use Shell Rotella T,  15W 40wt.
"Shell Rotella® T Triple Protection®, our premium heavy duty engine oil for increased protection and value, delivering extra wear-and-acid control." -  it has very good reputation and relatively inexpensive. I put Castrol AXLE LIMITED SLIP 80W-90
"Castrol Axle Limited Slip 80W-90 Gear Oil is a multi-grade gear lubricant that provides excellent performance in a manual transmission and differentials." - oil in the rear. Again a cost effective GL5 rating and good reputation.
Be sure not to over fill the engine with oil as this can cause major problems it takes less than a qt. I would not use any synthetic oils until well after break in mileage is completed.

Actually went 194 km on 1.044 gal. 1 km = .621371 mi.  So 194 x .621371 = 120.5 divided by 1.044 gal. = 115.4 mpg. I will be measuring this next tank more closely to see if this was a fluke. Started with tank filled to ring and 346.2 km on the odometer. Will fill to ring again next fill up and see.
