I have many balaclavas that will keep me warm but that was why I added the comfort part.
From military, to hunting, to race car/motorcycle ones I can't find one that will be comfortable enough for me to keep using.

I don't like the cold either. I have layers and layers and layers on during my morning rides. Nothing stays comfortable and keeps your face warm though.

A hot cup of caffeine helps a little.

I'm an early bird too Stig. What time is this?

My favorite time to ride is 0-dark thirty until sunrise. Only a scooter offers such a sobering view.

General Discussion / Fun Experience This Weekend
« on: September 03, 2013, 03:18:15 AM »
I wrote about this a little last wee and, this is the perfect thread to share it on.

Last week, not sure which day exactly but let's say Wednesday just for shiggles. I got pulled over by a bike cop, moreover a Sonoma county sheriffs deputy early Wednesday morning. It was about 4:45AM, he and I were the only two people on the street. He didn't ask for my license or ID or anything like that. He instead said he sees the bat bike every morning and he wanted to ask me about it. I up-sold how great Kymco was, he had never heard of them. We chatted about our bike history, his police bike, his awesome new triumph street triple, the restaurant, and of course batman.

He was a really nice guy and is even planning to bring his wife and come eat some food at my work. I have never had an encounter like that after being pulled over but it turned out great.

Little scooters: winning the hearts and minds of everyone!

I have some interesting hiviz gear from my days in the Army. They had ridiculous on post regs for bike riders that I hated when I was in. What's funny is now that I am older and wiser(hopefully) I wear my hiviz gear anytime I go riding.

My helmet is a matte black modular GMAX with flashing LEDs on the back.
I always wear an armored black leather jacket with lots reflective day-glo trim.
Matching black armored pants with the same reflective trim.
My Corcorans, US Army paratrooper jump boots, black.
Serius brand, wind/ weather/ and abrasion resistant shooting gloves, in black of course.
And a hiviz reflective belt strapped across my body, from hip to shoulder.

Most of my scooting miles are for my commute to the restaurant and back so the interesting dilemma that creates would be transporting my knifes, the kitchen cutlery. They are too long to fit in my top box or under the seat so I have them fastened into a roll that I strap across my body, opposite the hiviz belt. If anyone ever hits me, a dozen or so razor sharp knives strapped to me are going to be a surprise.

I do think I am going to get a little cape to wear while I ride the Bat-ped though :)

I've seen some of the shows on the food channel where they put chefs through the ringer, but to have to go to Ohio to cook, well that's just cruel.  :P
One thing going for Ohio is everyone is really nice. And they don't do everything at a million miles an hour like California. That part was nice.

But you are correct, cooking there was really challenging. For example, "Cincinnati chili" I'm going to have nightmare for the rest of my life about that crap... Seriously...

I spent a few weeks in Cincinnati this summer. I cooked at the restaurants Local 127 and Vie Vite. Ohio is not my favorite place but I had a little fun there.

No scooter in the shot because I took it from the scoot. This is the sun rising over Napa Valley's wine country. No Pacific Ocean but there is an ocean of fog.

Why the Californian jab. I live about 20 minutes from PCH and just so you know, it is an amazing ride! I also get to cruise through giant redwoods and rolling hills covered in grape vineyards. No where is prettier than right here.

And I know my left from my right, I think. ;)

It's too bad so many super heroes were orphans.  Maybe if they had parents they would've learned to wear their undies on the inside of their pants.
That is funny.

My brother is a mechanic and explained that about these little single cylinder thumper motors we have. He says the mechanics are so basic and the cam/lifters/valves are so small that symmetry is part of their design. The tight exhaust valve offers a built in form of back pressure to the motor and helps regulate the compression.

I assumed the valves should be different too but the service manual says same and so does my mechanic.
