General Discussion / An thoughts on SYM Joymax 300i ABS and GTS 300i ABS?
« on: February 19, 2015, 12:13:09 PM »
SYM is made in Taiwan.  The quality looks outstanding.  They are a little bit heaver, around 400 pounds.  Top speed is around 95 MPH.  The only problem is I may not be able to find one in Michigan.  If you have any thoughts on these scooters, pro or con, please share them with me.  Thank you for your help.  Ride safe my friends.

Will someone please tell me if 2014 was the first year they put the ABS on the DT300i being sold in America?  I think I'm being foolish to not buy a DT300i with ABS.  I hope I can find one.  Thank you for your help.  Ride safe.

Kymco News / Re: Full face, 3/4 or 1/2 helmet?
« on: February 14, 2015, 01:28:56 AM »
All my wife and I wear are full face helmets.  We ride with the visor opened a bit.  As long as we are moving they are fine.  When you stop they get very hot.  I doubt if we will ever not wear a full face helmet.  Ride safe my friends.

Downtown 300 / Re: My inseam is 29" which I think is in my favor.

No, I have never sat on one yet.  I can drive to where my scooter is and sit on a demo which I will do when winter is almost over or over.  I would like to take it for a short ride to.  Ride safe.

With a 29" inseam will it be more comfortable on my Downtown 300i?  Thanks for your feedback.  Ride safe.

Downtown 300 / Mine and wife's weight and height. Any suggestions?
« on: February 13, 2015, 01:57:58 AM »
Hi everyone.  I hope I'm not giving anyone a headache.  My height is about 5'9" and I weigh 233 pounds in my birthday suit.  My wife is 5'2" and she weights 110 pounds.  Do any of you have suggestions of things that may help us or be more comfortable?  Is this to much weight for the Downtown 300i?  I sure hope not.  We will also have luggage in hard top box and saddle bags.  Can you tell me what the maximum weight is that the DT300i can carry?  Thank you for your help.  Ride safe.

I started calling the dealers in Michigan trying to find a new white DT300i and I found one.  They will hold it for me until all the snow is gone, then I pick it up or I will have them deliver it to me in North Branch.  I'm so excited.  My wife is also very happy and excited for me to.  How lucky is that!

Please answer some questions for me if you can;
--Can you tell me where I can get a matching white large hard box for the back.  It must have brake lights that go on when I pull the back brake lever.  I also need a mounting plate for the hard box.  At least 50L.
--At least 26L soft saddle bags, black.
--A bar that attaches between the saddle bags and the scooter to protect the finish on the scooter from the saddle bags and to tie the saddle bags to.
--Hand guards, white or black, flexible.

Please tell me if I am forgetting anything that would be good to have for safety or comfort on long day trips, solo or two up or even a week road trip.

I'm thinking of a road trip to South Dakota to visit a couple that are some of our best friends.  They will come this way to visit us to.

If any of you would like me to come your way from Michigan after the winter has passed I'm open to going anywhere if I've got the money for a room and food on the way.  Let me know if it sounds good.

Will someone please tell me the best way to put the first 600 miles on her for the break in period.  Thank you.

Thank you so much for your help.  I hope I will be able to go to sleep tonight.  If you are able to ride ride safe my friends.  I sure got lucky.

Thank you both for your help.  I live in Michigan.  Do either of you know of anyone in Michigan that has a Downtown 300i?  I'm hoping there are a few here in Michigan.  Thanks again for your much needed help.  Ride safe my friends.

Hi everyone.  I worry about dropping the Downtown 300i when I put it on it's center stand.  I had a Honda Reflex that weighted about the same as the Downtown 300i I think.  On the ground I didn't have any problem putting on it's center stand but on the pavement I did have a bit of a problem.  Is the Downtown 300i hard to put on it's center stand?  I'll be 71 in July and I'm no where's near as strong as I used to be.  Thank you for your help.  Ride safe my friends.

Downtown 300 / Re: I might be buying a 300i...

I live in Caro Michigan in the winter and North Branch Michigan about 6 months a year.  North Branch is about 30 miles south of Caro.  Both are in Michigan's thumb.  Thanks for your reply.  Ride safe my friend.

Very nice video bongoman.  Also very nice scooter.  Thanks for posting.  I envey you for where you live.  I tried to get my wife to move to Texas but she says she has to many friends here in Michigan so I have to suffer through the Michigan winters.  Ride safe my friend.

Xciting 500 / Re: Darksiding the Xciting

I was a darksiding on a Honda Reflex and loved it.  I never had a problem with the rear tire.  Front was a new Avon scooter tire.  Back was a little larger and wider but fit it fine.  Ride safe my friends.

How is that for luck my friends.  That just made my day.  I hope I see some of you on the road somewhere.  Ride safe.

Downtown 300 / I might be buying a 300i...
« on: February 10, 2015, 07:39:24 PM »
I wanted to buy a Yamaha XMax 250 but they are not sold in America.  I read nothing but good reviews on them.  Then I went to the Kawasaki 300J.  That also is not sold in America.  I worry about service on the 300i.  I don't think there is a dealer in Michigan that even has one in stock.  It'd also a bit of a drive to the dealer but that will not be a deal breaker.  I'll order it in a week or two if the dealer will keep it in the box for me until this darn winter leaves Michigan.  Is white the fastest color?  Wish me luck my friends.  Ride safe.
