Exactly which mount did you use on your helmet?. Suction cup?.
Reason for asking is I use a Mobious action cam on my scooter. Am curious if the suction cup mounts are strong enough so one does not have to worry about loosing your camera.
At present, I have mine mounted on my handle bar grip but as you know, a helmet mount  is best.
ps: What cc is your Granturismo?. It is a nice looking scoot.

I just used the curved adhesive on the helmet.  Although I will be getting a GoPole helmet mount in the future.  I have a suction mount that only works on the cowling or metal parts of the scooter.  I do not mount on the handlebars.  Or, meant to say, I have not mounted on handlebars yet.

I have a 05 GT200.  It is 200CC.

By what means did you mount your cam to your helmet?.
Epoxy?.

Thanks for the feedback:).  I have a bunch of different mounts that I use.  Suction Mounts, RAM Mounts, Helmet Mounts and anything that allows me to mount the GoPro in every and any way.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  I just started riding scooters since the summer of this year.  I need to get my motorcycle license so I am a beginner.  I am 35 years old and am very mobile and somewhat in shape.  Overall, my balance is OK.  I hear out of only one ear so my balance can sometimes be a little off because of hearing issues.

With that being said, what are your thoughts on the scooters I suggested and are there any other you recommend?  What are your thoughts on used vs. new?

Thanks
Ross

General Discussion / Upgrading to 150cc to 200cc Scooter
« on: October 25, 2013, 02:02:30 AM »
Hello

I am upgrading my Kymco Like 50 to a 150cc or 200cc scooter.

I am looking mostly at non-Vespa scooters as as they are above my price range.  I am 6'2" and 205 lbs.  The issue with my Kymco Like 50 is the engine displacement is too small for me and need something that lets me drive through any and all streets in the Denver metro area.

Another issue is that the my legs kick up too close to the leg shield and handlebars which makes it OK on the straight aways but challenging and somewhat dangerous on turns because of feeling like I cannot maneuver freely.

With that being said, I have found the following new and used scooters at Sportique Scooters in Denver to try out this weekend:

New

Kymco Movie 150

Used

2005 Vespa Grandturismo 200L
http://sportiquescooters.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=264:2005-vespa-grandturismo-200l-$2800&Itemid=152

Kymco People 150cc
http://sportiquescooters.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=239:kymco-people-150cc-$2400&Itemid=155

Sym HD200
http://sportiquescooters.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=240:sym-hd-200-$2400&Itemid=155

Does anyone have any experience with these scooters or drives a 150cc to 200cc scooter?  What is your recommendation for a taller rider who wants comfort and safety for room for maneuverability?

Thanks,
Ross

General Discussion / Re: White Wall Tires
« on: September 20, 2013, 03:32:48 AM »
Thanks for all of the replies.  I found out Continental makes tires in the 130/70/12 for rear and 120/70/12 for front tire on Kymco Like.

Here is the link:

Everyone thinks highly of the Continental tires so I think this is the best choice.

Ross

Hello

I am looking to switch out the stock tires on my Kymco Like 50 to white wall tires.  Does anyone have any experience with white wall tires?  What manufacturers do you recommend and do any of you have any experience with white wall tires?

I like the retro look of the white wall tires and think it will look nice on the Kymco Like.

Thanks,
Ross

Like 50 2T / Biondi vs. Givi vs. Isotta Windscreens
« on: September 17, 2013, 02:46:10 PM »
Hello

Although I purchased a face shield for my helmet, I still need protection from the wind as it is starting to get cooler here in Colorado.  I am 6'2" and am looking for a screen that can provide full protection against the elements as I plan to ride during the fall and winter.

I am looking at the Biondi and Givi windshields in the links below:

Does anyone have any experience with these windshields?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Hi Wheelsoffreedom76

The only changes I made were the bbk and variator.  My mechanic recommends going up to the Arrehe 17.5 mm carb as it will provide better performance with the 70cc engine.

As a next step to maximize the 70cc, do you recommend upgrading the carb, pipe, or jets?  Which carb, pipe, or jets do you recommend?

Thanks
Ross

Hello,

After a lot of research on youtube, modern vespa, aprilia forum, and the kymco forum:) and getting a better understanding of where my Kymco Like 50 2T needs improvement, I decided I just want to change out the roller weights.

As mentioned in a previous post, I upgraded to the Malossi 70cc cylinder and Malossi variator.  I am using the Like 50 as a commuter and am more than satisfied with max speed (only gotten up to around 40 mph but this it will go faster).  My only issue is the acceleration at low RPM and acceleration uphill.

Based on my findings and recommendation from my mechanic at Sportique Scooters in Denver, it was recommended that I use lighter roller weights.  I do not know the grams of the roller weights I have in my variator now but I assume they are most likely Malossi as I have a Malossi variator.  I know lighter roller weights might effect my max speed but I am in need of better acceleration in lower RPM when commuting to/from work in Denver.

Which roller weights brand do you recommend?  Dr. Pulley, Malossi, Polini?  I have heard many good things about Dr. Pulley.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ross

Like 50 2T / Like 50 2T Carb and Exhaust Combo
« on: September 09, 2013, 11:15:38 PM »
Hello

I recently upgraded my 2011 Kymco Like 50 2T to have a Malossi 70cc cylinder and variator kit.  The last thing I want to do for now is upgrade my my carb and exhaust.

A couple of questions:

1. What brand and size come size carb come with the 2011 Kymco Like 50 2ST?
2.  What are the advantages to upgrading the existing carb to the PHBG 19mmMalossi Kit shown below:

http://www.spi-parts.com/scooter-parts-performance/kymco/kymco-50cc-scooters/like-50/malossi-carburetor-kit-for-honda-kymco-50.html

3.  Lastly, I am going to upgrade to the Leovince SP3 Exhaust.  What is the advantage of upgrading to this exhaust over keeping the stock exhaust that came with the Kymco Like 50 2T?  I would like to improve acceleration at the lower speeds and top speeds.  However, improving lower speeds are more important being that I commute to/from work in the city.

Thanks so much for the feedback.  Also, any information on scooter mechanics are greatly appreciated.

Best,
Ross

Like 50 2T / Leovince ZX-R vs. Tecnigas RS-II expansion chamber
« on: August 31, 2013, 07:56:40 PM »
Hello

I am looking to upgrade the expansion chamber on my Kymco Like 50 2T. I recently upgraded the Like 50 to a 70cc engine with the Malossi 70cc cylinder and variator kit.

I am wanting to upgrade my expansioin chamber for two reasons: Want louder exhaust and improved performance.

I have narrowed it down to the Leovince ZX-R and Tecnigas RS-II expansion chamber. I am leaning towards the Leovince ZX-R based off of limitied feedback on Leovince putting out a better quality product.

Does anyone have any experience with the ZX-R or RS-II?

Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Ross

Like 50 2T / Windshield or Face Shield
« on: August 28, 2013, 01:32:56 PM »
Hello

I purchased a Kymco Like 50 (modified with Malossi 70 cc cylinder/variator kit).  When riding, I sometimes get hit with small rocks/pebbles in the face on the Denver roads.

I am interested in getting a windshield or face shield.  Does anyone have any opinions on these options?

Here is the windshield I am looking at:

Thanks for your feedback!
