Super 8 150 / Re: random thing which happens after warm up
« on: September 18, 2013, 04:52:10 PM »
ginger cat, I have seen after servicing where the rear brake was adjusted too tight. Just tight enough to hold back for a second and then release(thus the clunk at the rear wheel). If something is slipping because of rust, the rust has to be very heavy and powdery.  Slight rust will cause something to stick.

Super 8 150 / Re: Gear oil

Went to West Marine and purchased Quicksilver marine lubricant SAE 90($15.00 a quart). Purchased a plastic squeeze bottle used for ketchup and mustard in diners(97cents at Walmart).  The amount is 6 ounces measured from a measuring cup. The oil is blue, very slow flowing and sticks tenaciously.

ChefRupe, I will eventually do the valves at 200 miles.  I have 30 miles now since new. How can I get a factory manual? Thanks.

Just for the heck of it, before you start your scoot, put it on the center stand and turn the rear wheel.  If the brakes are a little tight and the drum corrodes it could lock the wheel temporarily.

Super 8 150 / Re: Super 8 runs terrible in colder weather
« on: August 26, 2013, 03:35:14 PM »
My Super 8 is brand new so I don't know how it will perform in the winter( I used my Yamaha Vino 125 all year round down to 10 degrees). The Vino never had a problem as it has an electric choke and preheater on the carb. Doe anyone know if the 8 has the same?  Vivo, IMI 9mm, Baby Desert Eagle, polymer.

Super 8 150 / Re: super 8 styling

I also just purchased a Super 8 150. It is brand new and a 2011, yellow and blue.  It replaces a 2006 Yamaha Vino 125, which I bought new in 2008, and put 9000+ miles on ( I ride all year round-coldest was 10 degrees). I love the power and handling of the 8, but the gear noise is very loud. Replaced the gear oil with 6 ounces of Quick Silver sae 90 outboard drive lube and that didn't help ( 50 kilometers on odometer). The odometer in kilometers is also an annoyance. How do you remove the SUPER 8 decals?
