Technical | How To / Downtown 300 battery location
« on: May 13, 2014, 02:41:40 AM »
Can anyone tell me the easiest way to access the battery? I want to attach the leads so I can hook up my Battery Tender if and when I need to charge the battery.
Thanks, Bonnie

Technical | How To / Downtown 300 seat latch mod
« on: April 20, 2014, 04:47:45 PM »
When I had my Burgman I put a cable on the seat release and tucked it away so I could access the trunk area if I left my key in the trunk. Has anyone figured out how to do this on the 2012 DT 300?
Also, has anyone come up with a way to extend the drivers foot rest (ie motorcycle hwy pegs)? I am not sure why but there are very few accessories for this scoot.
Thanks, Bonnie

Hi, Great looking scooter. You did a super job. Can you tell me where you got the metal plates for the foot rests? I have looked but evidently not in the right place.

Downtown 300 / Seat Removal
« on: October 08, 2013, 04:25:45 AM »
I have the service manual but I can't find instructions on how to remove the seat on my 300i. I want to take it in to have the seat shape changed but I am not sure that if I just remove the arm from between the storage area to the seat, if that will release the seat.
Suggestions?
Thanks, Bonnie

Downtown 300 / Givi Saddlebags
« on: October 01, 2013, 04:47:08 PM »
Well, I solved my quandary re storage space. I installed the Givi S220 Silver (I think that is the model). First the good: great quality, nice looking, plenty of storage and a good fit. Now the not so good: not easy to follow the directions no matter what language you speak, they pretty much eliminate the trunk use when installed.
The one main drawback for me is that after you receive them they say that you need brackets (which as far as I know, are not made for the DT 300. Unless you want to rub the paint off the sides under the saddlebags, it requires some modifications. I have some gasket material for sealing the cowl on my El Camino. It is flat on one side and rounded on the other. I glued the flat side to the back of the saddlebags. They stand out from the fender just enough that they don't they don't rub and the gasket is rubber so it does not move.
Hope this helps anyone looking into getting saddlebags. :-\

Has anyone checked a hobby store? They might just have it.

Downtown 300 / Re: SEAT MOVED BACK ON DT 300 i

Yesterday I rode over to my upholstery guy and talked about adjusting the seating on my scooter. He said to bring it over and he could do the work in one day for $150.00. I live in Concord, CA. He adjusted my seat on the Piaggio and it was perfect.

On my 2 Burgmans I ran a thin braded wire used on airplanes from the latches to outside the seat. I put a loop on the outside end and kept tucked out of sight. Not that I ever locked my keys in the trunk lol. Does anyone know if this can be done on the 300i?
Thanks, Bonnie

Downtown 300 / Re: MY ONLY DISLIKE FOR THE DT 300 I
« on: September 21, 2013, 07:01:29 PM »
I have DT 300i also. I am only 5'2" and 29" inseam. The lack of leg room and having to keep my knees bent, makes me think that they should have installed foot pegs or at least make them an option. I went to my Kymco mechanic and asked about installing foot pegs. He said that there is no place to bolt the foot pegs that has reinforcement under the plastic body parts.
I had 2 Burgmans and a Piaggo and probably got spoiled with the leg room.
