General Discussion / Re: Why a scooter & not a Motorcycle?
« on: October 23, 2013, 12:43:30 AM »
When I was younger it was all HD.
Now as an older crip that can't shift due to spastic feet or swing a leg over a bike scooters keep me on two wheels.

What happened?  I mean did you have a stroke, or do you have some other neurological disorder?  Where does the spasticity come from?  Only reason I'm asking is because some guys convert their Harleys to trikes depending on the situation.

::) 90 mph ?? That must have been laying flat over the tank, going down hill with the wind fair up yer clacker. It's a 250 cruiser ... maybe you should have bought a bigger bike ol mate. And yes, it does have a rev limiter.. about 10000 rpm.

lol. Yes, that's right.  Sometimes it will only get up to 80mph on the highway, and sometimes on hilly country roads it only wants to go 70mph.  But I actually bought it because I had no self control on my crotch rocket.  I didn't want to give up riding cause it's so much fun, but couldn't trust myself on anything fast, so I bought the Venox.  Saved my life and money on gas!

That's actually a good thing for me if my top end is limited.  If I have a bike that goes 90, I'm goin' 90!

That's cool.

I'm having trouble finding one online, at least ones with decent descriptions.

What's a good site to look at stuff like that?

I'm thinking about getting a windshield for my Venox, can anybody give me anything I may want to consider before I get one?

I plan on getting one to extend my riding season, keep me a little warmer.

Does anybody know a good place to order one?

Also, will this slow my bike down, or cut the air better and improve acceleration?

Thanks!

I went with a motorcycle over the scooter, glad I did too.

I started thinking maybe I should have got a scooter for the gas mileage, then I saw the 250's only go 75 mph.  I do a lot of highway riding on my Venox and it still gets 60+ mpg!

Scooters are cool for what they are, supreme gas savers.  But I downgraded from a 600 Ninja to slow myself down, it worked, I'm still alive!

Yea, some guy in another area on this forum said the Venox does have a rev limiter.  I'm gonna get a tachometer.  So I'm guessing if I take it up to 90 that would be close to the redline, and I can just use 5th gear as a template as to how far I can wrap up each gear?

90mph is the fastest I can get that thing to go, I only weigh 163 so I'm guessing that's about the bikes top speed.  Not positive but I think official track times are done with a 145 lb rider.

I can't believe I haven't hit the rev limiter on this thing, an 09 Venox does have a rev limiter, right?

I was wondering how high I can rev these gears without red-lining, I thought you guys might know how fast I can go in each gear.

Right now, when I'm trying to accelerate quickly, I take 3rd gear up to 40mph, and I take 4th gear up to 60mph.

This is about as high as I want to go, it feels like Im at the end of these gears, is this deceptive?  Could I be taking these gears further?
