It was actuallu the reed valve that didn't close properly.
. How did you figure the reed valve wasn't functioning correctly?

If you don't have a service manual, Google for it and go thru the troubleshooting in Ch. 15 for your electrical system. check resistance values against service manual specs. maybe you have a week spark, or bad CDI,  the CDI is powered by AC voltage, check generator too

zx50 / license plate light replacement tip
« on: November 22, 2013, 05:42:13 AM »
I recently replaced my license plate light with this 5 led, long lasting replacement bulb. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009IEQE86/ref=cfb_at_prodpg
This is a T10 bulb replacement, works on other models of Kymco scooters

zx50 / Re: seat latch not engaging -FIXED

By taking off the seat and repositioning things slightly, the seat now latches closed.  It wasn't going down far enough into the latch for the seat 'bar' to engage. Thanks for your help

A vice, a hammer and a small chisel

is the washer on the exhaust inlet or outlet side

Hi ,  I can't get the seat latch to lock the seat down.   Any suggestions? I bought this zx a few weeks ago, it is clean, very low miles and the only problem with it is that I can't lock the seat/storage bin.

Hello, I have an easy question. How do you remove the exhaust washer?
I am looking at buying a 2005 ZX50 with 626 miles on it for $700
