Super 8 150 / Air Cleaner Modification
« on: October 06, 2014, 03:43:44 PM »
I was visiting several scooter clubs in Bogota, Colombia last week where the 2 dominant scooters are the Yamaha Bws (a normally aspirated Zuma) and the Kymco Agility 125. The stock air filter/cleaners were replaced with K&N RC1200's (or similar). Does anyone know if the Carburetor on a Super8 would have to be re-jetted after a modification like this?  :o

I know VIVO you are probably correct....isn't it funny?

When we get lost and our friends say "Where are we?" We frequently respond by saying "I was trying a new SHORTCUT!" LOL :-[

Also: Your comment on the S8 forum about rear lights. OMG. I never thought about that. My scoot is 4 years old. Lamps are all still working.

Now I'm jinxed!!!!!!!!!! LMAO

Has anyone re-painted? I have only 2 small side panesl and a front fender that are colored green (stock) . The rest of my Super 8 is Black. I want to make it all black. I was thinking of taping and spraying rather than disassembling body parts. I intend to use Scotch Auto Body tape and Krylon Fusion for plastic, vinyl and fiberglass as it is a primer and paint-in-one?
Any thoughts?

Thanks all. I got the shocks done.... but bucket had to come out, rear fairings off, muffler (right side). The top bolts are inaccessible without fairings (rear fender body) off. And the rear bolt bottom needs muffler removal (bolt too long to remove). In any case they look great and your help is appreciated.
Why take the car? Jack 8)

I'm sure there are cheaper replacement shocks out there. But as usual I had to go to a Kymco dealer to purchase (rear) shock absorbers I was sure would fit

Vivo,
I just received my new Super 8 (Kymco) shocks (Black). The originals were yellow and getting rusty and ugly. Can I change these myself with standard tool sets or do I need special tools (i.e. spring compressors)?

Are shock spring compressors needed to change my rear shocks?

Anyone have a good aftermarket source? I don't want $250.00 high performance racing shocks. THX
