Xciting 500 / Re: Good price???
« on: February 01, 2016, 03:22:18 PM »
Thanks Sissy Mary for the input.  As I have two battery tenders that won't be a problem.   :D

Xcel777 - I suppose I wasn't clear.  On other scooters I've had, if you didn't bring up the side stand, the bike did not turn over or show any indication of starting.  Kymco's safety solution, to let the engine turn but not spark or get fuel, is a bad option in my opinion.  Of course reading the owner's manual helps!   ;)

You all have a great week!

Thanks all for the input.

I did notice a video on YouTube that the later models will turn over but not start unless the side kickstand is up.  Interesting.

Xciting 500 / Good price???

I have the opportunity to buy a 2013 Kymco Xciting 500 (with 600 miles).  The OTD price is $3800.  The scoot seems in perfect condition.  Do you think this would be a good buy at this price???

BTW - if you had to chose between the Xciting and a 2009 Honda DN-01 in very good condition (+ better windscreen) with 9K miles for $5K, what would you do????
Thx

Mikestib1 and Pipster326, thanks for the input.

Pipster326, I've heard this is an awesome scooter except that it tends to fit smaller framed individuals.  I'm 5'8", 150 lbs, 32" inseam.  What are your dimensions?

Downtown 300 / Downtown priced right?!?

I recently found a 2012 Downtown with 3K miles for sale by owner and it looks in excellent condition.  Problem...the owner wants $3,700 which seems way too high given KBB and Nada guides. Does this price seem appropriate for the (Southwest) market?

People 250 / 2005 People 250 - Should I buy?
« on: August 04, 2015, 07:40:25 PM »
I came across a 2005 People 250 (not S model) recently on Craigslist.  Original Owner wants $1680.  Seems to be in good condition with 4500 miles.

Good price?  Any concerns about this particular model I should be aware of?

Thanks

Grandvista 250 / Re: 2008 Grand Vista - should I buy?????

I decided to pass on the scoot.  I did see it in person recently and found that it had been dropped.
The left belt case needed to be replaced, there was some cosmetic damage and I found the fuel filler door open (not latched closed).  Just too much neglect (the house didn't fair much better either).

It just felt wrong.

Thanks all for the input!!

Also Thanks to ScooterLar, I told her the most I'd pay is $1800.....she agreed.

Stay tuned......

Thanks ScooterLar.

Could you give me your physical dimensions?  I keep reading that this scoot is tight for even average dimensioned people.  I'm 5'8" with a 32 inseam.

Grandvista 250 / 2008 Grand Vista - should I buy?????

Someone local is selling a 2008 grand vista for $2400.  It's the 2nd owner and has 630 miles on it.  I'm concerned that all that sitting around has damaged the carb and more.

What's your take?

Not to muddy the waters.  I was resistant to even consider this scoot because in May 2016 we are planning to RV for awhile and I want to haul a scoot around as 2ndary transportation.  My concern that a carbureted vehicle can have float problems, etc. when it's sitting on the back of the RV.  Am I correct in my concern?

Stig/Donandrews - thanks for your wacky yet informative responses and my apologies for the very late response.  In the end I bought a PCX150......but I've already sold it.  Now I'm looking at the Downtown but it seems to have the same ergo challenges.  Ugh!

All.....Thanks again for you replies.  I thought I'd bring you all up-to-date on what I ended up doing.

I finally had a chance to sit on a Kymco Like 200i.  I liked everything about the bike on paper BUT found that ergonomically it was not a fit.  I ended up getting a 2013 Honda PCX 150 yesterday.  I rode it from Norwalk, CA back to Palm Springs yesterday....5 hours and 128 miles later I was home.  Who says you can't travel in LA off the freeway grid?!!  LOL

Again...thanks for your input!!
