DMblues01 I know what you mean. We live next to our town’s high school as well. If possible, get pictures of the cell phone drivers and send them to the school, or post on the School’s FB page if they have one. Shame goes a long way towards fixing behaviors.

My brother-n-law is a police officer here in town, so I might have passed along a license plate number for him to screw with once or twice.  ::)
But, I'm an A-hole like that sometimes!  ;D

That's why I like the smaller engines.
Less physical mass to put into motion, and less fluids to circulate.

Super 8 150 / Re: Getting new tires for the Supe!
« on: December 19, 2015, 03:16:46 PM »
Just installed a 140/60/14 rear to replace the crappy oem tire and what a difference. I definitelty lost some agility but the additional grip and confidence at speed was worth it for sure. I kept the OEM size up front for now and the new shoes are Michelin city-grips. Awesome tire in the dry asphalt & concrete if I must say. I'll let you know how it does in the rain soon. ScooterzNC gave me an awesome deal and great service!!

Just curious.....did the 140 tire fit with the rear fender still on?  Someone else mentioned that it would have to be removed.

Unfortunately, my biggest road hazard is the fact that I live 2 blocks from the local high school.  So I have the constant battle of watching for 16-18 year old drivers with no common sense, no spacial awareness, and usually a cell phone in their hand!!  >:(

General Discussion / Re: the forum
« on: December 19, 2015, 02:20:51 PM »
This forum is great because it's the only one I've found where everyone has been totally helpful. Most of the other forums I've found (which I won't bother naming), have been mostly populated with either brand loyal fanatics who tell you anything else is crap, or A-holes who treat you like an idiot for asking a simple question.
When I first got my scoot almost 2 years ago, I asked a lot of noob questions while learning the ins and outs of working on my scoot. The folks here have always been cool about helping each other out. Plus, they'll ever try and help if it's not a Kymco question.
Because of the help I've gotten here, I try whenever I can to pass on everything I've learned to others on the forum.

Yep Caiforniaman, just bypass it. It's junk.
Plus, in my opinion, cutting the power to the headlights at stops just seems unsafe and dumb. Most of us get almost hit by cars enough as it is!!

Just curious. How much are they asking ?

They're asking $1600. Just seems high for a 10 year old scoot.
Resale price I looked up on my 2012 Super8 150 was only $1400.

Technical | How To / Re: Reliable Winter Starting
« on: December 16, 2015, 04:11:36 PM »
I do nothing different in winter except a longer warm up.
I run middle grade fuel. Every 4th or 5th tank, I fill with high grade and an once of seafoam to keep the carb clean.
I have a normal NGK cr7hsa plug.
I run Rotela T6 5w-40 synthetic oil.
I've never used a battery tender once in almost 2 years, and never had a battery issue. Starts right up, even at 5F last winter.
I don't have a garage, so only a bike cover keeps the snow off.
I just ride all year and the scoot never sits longer than a couple days at a time.
My Super8 150 is a tough little beast!!

Thanks for the input everyone.
Makes me feel a little better about it. I'll probably keep looking around though, because it's at my local Kymco dealer, and their asking price seems high to me. Unless they make a deal on it, I'll keep searching for another.
Anyone know how high is too high for a 2006 People 150?

It looks like that did the trick.  :)

Many thanks!

No problem. Someone else on here posted that picture and fix to me when I had the same issue. I'm just passing it forward!  :)

The light control module is failing.
I just bypassed mine. Unplug the LCM. Jump the 2 blue wires and the 2 white wires.
The headlights will come on when you turn on the ignition and work normal. Plus no more auto dim at stops.
Did mine over a year and a half ago, and no problems since.

What is the "light control" and what does it do?

Karl
The Light Control is the module that automatically reduces power to the headlights when you stop. It's a piece of crap, and is notorious for failing. When it does, the headlights don't work.
On my 2012 Super8 150, I just unplugged it, and bypassed it.
The module is in the nose, behind the headlights. It looks like a CDI box. On the wires that plug into it, just jump the 2 blue wires together and the 2 white wires together. Those are the power wires for the low beams and the high beams. Then the headlight comes on when you turn the ignition on. I did it on mine after the Light control module failed, and was replaced under warranty, 3 times!
Headlights have been fine for over a year and a half since, and haven't had any issues with the battery charging.
The picture is from an older model, but the wires are the same on the newer ones.

People 150 / Looking at a used People 150
« on: December 13, 2015, 01:30:24 AM »
I was looking at an old People 150 for sale, and I really like it.
Only issue is the mileage. The odometer has 16,000 miles on it!!  :o
That kinda scares me away from it. I was wondering what kind of mileage most people have gotten out of theirs??
I have a 2012 Super8 150, which I love, and I know Kymcos can go a long time with proper maintenance.
The People 150 I looked at looks spotless and runs great, and I haven't seen another one for sale in my area anywhere. But, I don't know that I would want to take a chance on one with 16,000 miles on it already.
How long do these usually last, and what would the most likely issues be at that mileage?

Dang, Wayne! I ride all year, even in winter, and I didn't even clock that many miles!!
Even counting the 2500 miles I put on my motorcycle, you're still ahead of me.
I gotta get busy with the weekend joy riding.

Super 8 150 / Re: Super8 Electrical Issue
« on: December 13, 2015, 12:38:07 AM »
Getting rained on twice shouldn't cause an electrical problem, unless the problem was already there. I don't have a garage, and my Super8 lives outside in the elements for almost 2 years now. Plus, I ride in rain all the time.
Only issue I have gotten was needing to clean the contacts in the starter switch recently, but that took over a year and a half to develop.
