Agility 125 / My scooter won't electric start
« on: November 14, 2015, 01:24:24 PM »
Hi there,

I gonna need some help. I changed the handle bar on my kymco agility 125. For this I had to disconnect the front and the back brake wires. Unfortunately, I didn't memories which cable goes where. Stupid me. When I put them back together my scooter didn't start and there is no brake lights at all. I tried all variation to put the wires together but no avail.
With the kick start I can start my bike but the electric start doesn't work.
Does anyone have an idea what to check now?
I will try to attach a picture of the wire.

I have checked the fuses. But they seem OK.

That is my plan. But this scooter has no much value here in London. I have one question left. Do you know where is that pieces are from? I gonna attach a picture. I hope is only just a bearing and the engine case has no damage.
What do you reckon?

Thanks. But as it turned out it has much more severe problem than the starter clutch. I tried to change the oil and when I unscrewed that bolt lots of small metal pieces came out along with the oil. It's definitely from some bearings. Dear me. I intended to repair this scooter  sell it and make some profit. No chance. But I know what I gonna do now. I gonna keep it and build up a tuning bike as a project with a big 180cc engine.

Good news. My scooter is running. What was the problem? I am not sure. I took off everything cleaned it and put it back and it starts now first kick. If I must point out what was wrong I would say probably the ground. Now the spark a bit better.
But I still got one question. I had to change the starter motor and it turned out that it has additional problem with starter clutch as well. You can hear as the starter is spinning but it does not have contact with the starter clutch. Where can I find it? Is it behind the flywheel or I will have to open the engine case completely?

Why is it called kill switch? This button starts the engine, doesn't stop it.
About the compression. I don't know what you mean to test it. When I try to kick start it I can feel the resistance.
Some additional information.
My friend asked me to clean the carb of this bike. In summer. It was running and started first time but during acceleration started stalling. So, I took it down to my garage, cleaned the carb put it back and the bike didn't start at all. But the carb was fine. Later when I bought this bike swaped its carb and used it in my bike with no problem. And then I replaced it with a new one.
I gonna check the valve but it's strange. Before I took the carb off was running and then finish.

Sorry, now you can watch it. But it's not very good quality. On my phone it's better but in reality it's still hard to see the spark. I gonna attach a picture.
So this bike costed me £50 but I had to replace couple of things like battery, spark plug and carburetor. But it still doesn't want to start. Compression OK.
Where is the kill switch? Do I have one

Hi there,

My moped won't start. My guess is that the spark is too weak. But i made a video and shared on youtube. What do you think about that? Is it weak? But compering to my working moped it's definitley weaker. But that one is a different model. I am not sure. The battery brand new fully charged. I have checked and cleaned the ground cable from the battery. The carb brand new done zero km. And the petrol gets there. Any idea?

Agility 125 / Re: spark plug question about iridium CR7HIX for agility 125

If you want it to be iridium the correct on is the cr7hix. I use this in my agility. Fits perfectly no worries.

Gooood news. The hesitation problem is solved. And thank you for your help. It helped me a lot. Basically, the problem was with the idle jet. I had a spare one. Size 32. Originally it was 36 in it. According to the manual should be 35 but who cares. I mean as long as it works with 32 that's fine for me.
Well...I haven't tested it in a long distance only in a carpark. But at least now I know what to do if...if I will have to correct it.
Thanks again.
Later on I will check the spark plug. If it's still blackish I will change the main jet as well.

So, the conclusion and the msssage to everyone who has a hasitating bike during acceleration. Guys the problem might be with idle jet.

I took apart the airbox and tried without it. I haven't noticed the problem. So it means definitely it needs more air.  So, I have to change either the airbox to a tuning airbox or change the pilot jet to a smaller one.

Aaaaa.. I thought if I closed the screw it gets less air. I have just replaced the air filter. But I gonna remove it to see. Maybe you're right.
The spring and everything is in there. I didn't loose them.
But I am still thinking about the valves.

So.....I had a chance to try to solve this problem. And the result is....well...you tell me some conclusion. I played with the pilot screw and what I can say is the more open the pilot screw the worse the problem is.but even if I close it COMPLETLEY somewhat the problem still persists. Most of the time accelerate  without hesitation but 1 out of 3 it hasitates. But obviously in this position my spark plug quite black.
One time I opened the pilot screw as far as I could and when I took it for a test drive I lost it. It fell out and the rev went up. I was very far from home I had to drive it back. So I lower the idle speed and.....you won't believe this. The problem completely disappeared. It was smooth and fast from nil up to the end.
I can think of only one think. It must be with the valves. Or any idea???
I had a spare pilot screw so I put it back and opened it with 1 turn. Can I damaged the engine if I am running with too rich mixture??
