Some kymco mod to feed more petrol when its cold ??
has anyone heard of kevs mod ?
its from the xtx 660 forums , (my second bike )
this guy kev made a relay type thing to fool the ecu-? into delivering more petrol (gas) to the injectors when the weather is cold
and keeps the idle up untill the engine is warmer

"small cylindrical things sits left side if battery in a rubber sleeve"  ..thats the starter relay

can you share your mechanics email ? or send it to me ? id really like to talk to him about getting that mod from him

This isnt a gremlin , its a fault !
and kymco should have a fix for it

i have a feeling it has somthing to do with water condensation , bacause i cant start mine after a cold night iether ,it dosnet matter if its been raining or not
im in sydney australia and it dosnt get cold here like it does for the usa

Xciting 500 / Starter relay
« on: June 09, 2015, 01:44:31 AM »
For a while now , off and on when im riding when i pull in the brake the starter motor would wind over
i know thats not a good thing , but i left it as it would only occur randomly

but now its pretty bad and happens every time i pull the brake lever (eather one)
the other change is that now the sound seems to be comming from behind the battery where the starter relay lives

do i have to buy a kymco relay or can i just go with any relay for a 500 petrol scooter ?

Xciting 500 / Starting with brake lever
« on: August 21, 2014, 09:49:17 AM »
Hi all
today after starting the scooter i let it sit and idle for a while , maybe about 10 minutes while i pottered around doing other things
when i got back to the scoot i gave a bit of a rev and started a pre ride saftey check (like checking the brake lights ,indicators ,headlight ,brakes actually working)
when i squeezed on the brake lever i heard a terrible sound then tried it again to make sure
i turned off the scoot with the key then turned the key back on , then squeezed the brake lever and the scoot started !  without pressing the start button
i tried this again and it didnt reoccur , this time no bad sound while braking
i took it for a short ride around the block , stopped halfway and restarted , it started with just the brake lever again (both levers do this)

obviously theres a short or a bad switch somwhere and given that it happens intermittantly im hoping that this is my gremlin
(if youv read any of my other recent posts youll see iv been having a hard time starting)

also i read a few posts about looking for a stronger starter motor , , did anyone find the part no. for that ?or will any starter motor that will suit kymco 500ri work ?

thankyou everyone

The strarting procedure isnt my problem honestly i start it (or try to) with the same procedure as told to me by this forum

turn key ,wait about 10 ,hit the starter   , if that fails turn key off , wait 10 ,turn key wait 10 ,hit the starter
its effing ridiculous im lucky this isnt my only transport

when it starts it will run all day on and off with no problems restarting it

here is a link to what im talking about re the ecu flash  http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321457856108?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

let me know if that link wont work

the description is "Kymco 39200-LDG7-800 Xciting R500i Ecu / Flash"

EDIT::: just to let you know the scoot has spark , fuel , compression ,and battery

Hi b&l
my scoot is VERY picky about when it will start and there dosnt seem to be any method to its madness
one day ittl start then the next it wont , i cant find any elec shorts or bad grounds
also see http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=11952.0  thread started by HOHO , but kind of hijacked by me
anyway , i bought the rectifier and ecu flash because i was starting to run out of ideas and had the money to spend

the unit thats on the bike looks like a normal bike cdi , its right next to the rectifier ,its just this new part dosnt look anything like the original

where does the ecu fit onto the scoot ?
iv just been scouring through the service manual and cant find any mention of it

Xciting 500 / R500i Ecu / Flash
« on: August 14, 2014, 07:13:29 AM »
Hi all
I recently bought a rectifier and a R500i Ecu / Flash from a guy in south africa (cheaper than localy would you belive)

my problem is the Ecu flash dosnt look a thing like the cdi on my scooter

i told him i was looking for a new cdi unit and he said the 500ri uses this Ecu flash thing, so i went ahead and bought it
im afraid to open the plastic oem bag it comes in because i want a refund but i can tell its different ...

am i right in thinking the cdi is under the right side back fairing (as you sit on the scoot) ,, i can see it right there ,, that IS a cdi right ??

am i even right about the scoot having a cdi ?

General Discussion / My helmet is noisy
« on: August 01, 2014, 01:51:16 AM »
My new helmet is really good looking but man is it Noisy !

i got it for a great price on ebay - $114.00 Aud delivered

but the damn thing folds my ears and is super noisy , as in wind noise .

if your looking for a nice quite helmet id suggest keeping clear of the " RXT Sprint "

« on: July 24, 2014, 03:10:24 AM »
HI guys , id like to spruce up my scooter a bit
the black plastics are looking sun faded and i can only see my shoulders in the mirrors

what would you sugest to return the black plastics to a nice new look
and these mirrors !,, i can only see behind me if i tilt the scooter way over to each side

im even thinking about changing colors completely to a different scheme maybe something in dark metalic green

a scheme like this http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_t9QLu5SITiw/TKYfd6-BBLI/AAAAAAAACqk/tK_b6t2hF64/s1600/z1000sx.jpg
but with a darker green like this http://www.ducati.ms/forums/attachments/supersport/303041d1385078015-tricolor-pics-atomic-green.jpg
