Pull it apart and thoroughly clean the needle and seat and check the float height.  Usually it is pretty close to level with the carb body.

Yep...Pep Boys should have 'em.  Just a note; the rubber these expansion plugs are made is not the most fuel safe.  I've been running the same one for about 3 years with no problems but I had to bend the oem pump retaining bracket to hold the rubber plug in. (I had it pop out twice in the past)  It does the job though!  ;)

For a more proper fit you could also try one of these....they're just more than I wanted to spend on a plug.

I used one of these with the oem bracket retaining it.

IMO this tool is a MUST have if you plan to rebuild the bottom end!  If you have the extra money to blow on a new crank and/or bearing from trying to get away without it...then by all means go ahead.  If the tool saves you one set of destroyed bearings it has payed for itself.  Plus, it is so simple to use.

The Black/Red wire should be A/C power supply from the stator to the CDI.

The symptoms you described are all indicative of low compression.  If you just want to get it running again with the lowest amount of money and effort...just pull the cylinder off and inspect it.  Count on buying a new oem piston and rings for now.  Check out Stadium Yamaha for oem parts.

It's all good...just a bit colder than I'm used too, and rainy. My lemon tree isn't very happy about it.  :-\

If that wire pulled out of the cdi plug, you can pop out the metal part, pry it back open with a small pick and re-crimp that wire back in.

Welcome home Shaka!!!!!!!!  You can see in the Pict it is right out of the 4 pin connector. It just has to be mated with the other side.
It is the coil trigger wire. Just the cdi side.

Thanks!  ;D

Can't really tell from the pic whether it came from the coil or the cdi plug...I think both are a black/yellow wire.

Off the top of my head I believe that wire goes to the ignition coil.  It probably pulled out of the spade connector on the back of the coil.

A stiffer contra acts similar to lightening the rollers.  If you put a stiffer contra in...increase to roller weight to compensate.

It's finally happening huh?..  :(
Gonna hate to see you leave N.C. but sometimes things like that happen.  ;)
But dam, aren't you moving to constant rain? ...  :D
Dam sure hope to still have contact regardless of the state.  ;)  :D

Yep...heading out Sunday morning.  Taking a cross country road trip with my dad.  :-\
It doesn't rain all the time...just most.  ;)
I'll still be around. That's the beauty of the internet!  Just keep in mind I'll be 3 hrs behind you...no early calls please.  ;D
