Absolutely.
Slow down on blind corners.....
The corn is so high now on my country rides that I cannot see around the bends....oncoming cars like to get too near the center line! 2 of them this morning.  Slowed me right down on a road that I know well.....I know the road but conditions have changed!
Stig

Another good point;

On roads like this, NEVER cut corners. Especially where your sight lines (seeing beyond the exit of a turn) is limited, to none. Stay right of center. Never ride left of center. I shake my head to drivers and riders that I have come across using the whole lane and or have cut corners. Fortunately, I am experienced enough to make minimal adjustments to avoid a collision. I can't stress it enough, stay in control, and on your side of the lane.

Road Conditions; it's one thing knowing a road, as noted, conditions are NOT always the same. Therefore, again, ride within your limits, ride with good awareness to allow yourself a good margin to make minimal adjustments needed to avoid any situation.

Yikes. I hope the guy will recover from his injuries.

I don't know the road he was traveling. However, I have ridden many single lane (undivided) roads like this. A bit of bad timing to blow a corner (going wide on exit of a turn) where a fire truck just so happen to be coming the opposite direction. This is good example and learning lesson to ride within your skill level. I have dialed back my riding pace quite a bit when it comes to blind corners on roads like this. You just never know what you're going to encounter on the other side.

nice, and good song!

What route was that, and which lake?

Only roads I am familiar with around that area is Uvas, Metcalf, and San Felipe. There is also a short cut I take from N. San Jose to Mt Hamilton. On occasions, a bunch of us take Uvas to 152 over Mt Madonna into Watsonville, some back roads into Soquel, Old San Jose Hwy, Old Santa Cruz Hwy to 17, back into the valley.

I love these roads we have surrounding the Bay Area!

Thanks for posting, Stig!

When I had purchased my S8 150cc scooter last season, it had some freight damage. Kymco covered the parts and labor of the replaced parts. I was not charged a single penny. Kymco picked up the tab. FWIW

I forgot to mention in my initial post, the tint stuff I purchased comes in a roll :p Therefore, you will need to cut a piece, place and trim to fit your visor, as needed. In the end, it will look similar to the painters tape you had initially posted. I'll take a pic and post later. Btw, since installing it, I have not removed it, as it does not hinder my vision, day or night.

lulz

I have something similar on a few of my visors. I have a strip of the pealable / removable window tint. You can get this stuff at any local auto store, or online. I currently use the "medium" tint, and works well for my evening commute. My morning commute is either dark, or away from the morning sun. I do recommend the darker tint for those that have a long commute w/ direct sunlight.

Thanks for your reply .... I was counting on you :p

Btw, please provide a link of your shop website. I know you had posted it in another thread, but I could not remember or find the thread. Again, Thanks.

Btw, the web lists some compared prices: $10 - $18 (wtf) of the filter.

Looking to get a new air filter. Through an on-line search, I found that Dennis Kirk offers an air filter for $10, but does not say whether or not it will fit the Super 8 150 scooter. But, the picture posted looks identical to the S8 filter. Can any of you confirm?

Glad to read you're relatively ok. Thank God!

Many, many, years ago, when I was a fairly new rider, I had a slow speed incident, lucky. I was wearing a helmet, leather jacket and gloves for protection. Gear held up perfectly. Jeans and two week old tennies, not so well. To this day, I have a nickel size scar above my right knee as a reminder of that day. Ever since, I wear full gear.

Additionally, when I first started tracking and racing mini moto's, I had a lot of learning experiences and still have my leathers. All the tarmac scuffs are a great reminder of what my body would look like, had I not worn any protection. I would be all but a walking scar tissue.

WEAR YOUR GEAR!

How many miles on your scoot now, Wayne?

Thanks for highlighting the carb rubbing against the chassis. Something I'll need to check on mine too. Just gotta make it a priority and find the time to tear into the scoot ...... Something's I seem to lack interest doing these days.

BTW, what did you do to resolve the issue, if any?

Even filtering to the front of the line, there are still risks; red light runners, and or dealing with backed-up traffic in the intersection of those trying to make it through a turn signal cycle.

ALWAYS, look left, right, and left again for your safety. Be a little patient before gunning it through an intersection. I have read of a lot of accidents of those at the front of the line.

For this reason, and depending on the intersection(s), there are times I will either wait in line, or filter in behind the first car. Then, later filter my way through slower traffic, if/when safe.

Yup, mid 60's - 70's for us in the California, SF Bay Area. Although, forecast calls for rain this weekend. We need it.

Super 8 150 / Re: Getting new tires for the Supe!
« on: February 19, 2015, 03:35:18 PM »
I'm getting more motivated to getting better grip.

I don't ride (commute) in the rain ..... I promised the wife, and why increase the risk. However, I do / have ridden in the fog. Some days, more dense than others. A couple of times, I had the tires lose grip. Today was the second time, just rounding a simple right hander, had the front tuck for a moment. Thankfully, I have enough experience that allowed me to keep the scoot upright. Regardless, a bit of an unsettling moment and can drop ones confidence way down.

For those the have XXXXX miles on your OEM tires, I don't know how you've managed to keep your scoot upright. Or have you? ..... eeeeeesh!

I also use lane splitting when there is gridlock and there is a good amount of room on the shoulder to make passing safe. It helped me get to an appointment on time by riding up the side of the road past a construction traffic jam. Would have been sitting in that line for a good 25 minutes.

Be careful about passing on the right. Not only do cars NOT expect a passing on the right, but is very risky for those last minute changes of someone pulling into a driveway. I have read more accidents about passing on the right, and more especially, between parked cars. Not only that, consider when passing on the shoulder (crossing the white solid line [fog line]), or riding in a marked bicycle lane, you can get cited...... at least here in California.
