Downtown 300 / Dashboard Fuel tank gauge
« on: June 12, 2023, 10:25:04 AM »
Hello everybody
I've a 2014 DT 300i, i've a problem with dashboard fuel tank gauge, where it was disappearing and flashing , then finally it totally disappeared and i can't read fuel tank level
heard it's about fuel tank float sensor but didn't find a replacement one at service center (only complete fuel pump assembly available at an exaggerated price), so is there anyone experience this problem and can i fix that sensor or float?

problem solved after a second visit to agent workshop, a defected voltage regulator was the cause of all of these errors as it was giving high voltage output (told it reached 17 v) leading to all these mess and errors
it's worth to mention here that this is the 3rd time to change the voltage regulator and thank you all for help and support

Can be bent pick up ring on wheel---mine on front got bent on tire change.  Fix=take ring off and bent strait or leave in place and make level, work for me.
can't get your point, what do you mean by wheel pick up ring?

Sounds like bad connections/grounds in a 7 year old high km machine...
how to check these bad connections in your mind, is there a special start point ? and methodology

Downtown 300 / Downtown 300 ABS alarm

Hello everybody here
I'm having a 2014 DT 300 (with almost 70K km mileage) , recently i'm having a problem that still persist after some trials to resolve it, the ABS alarm light is on after i start my ride , this is accompanied with rpm speedometer not working and the km meter not working also. this situation just disappear once i turn my light bulbs on
i went to my workshop and they replace the km speedometer cable but nothing change and also tried to disconnect my battery and reconnect back but nothing changed
could anyone know what could be the possible reason for such case , it's worth to mention that i think that the abs brakes is mostly working properly

;) I have ordered the reg. shindengen 232-12 from E bay on the 26 dec .  it should be here the 29 dec.   in masenna NY.
it is -33 C here this morning it should warm up to -20 C by 1 oclock. , I might poke  my nose out for a while , for fresh air,  check the batterys in the garage, keep them at full charge so they don't freeze,
could you send me the part number for this rectifier to look for it here at Honda workshop?

Well, In Malaysia, we have the Downtown 200.

The 200s here do not have rectifier problems, the Xcit 400 has rectifier problems.

I am not sure if the 300 shares the rectifier with the 200 or 400 models, if it does with the 400, then perhaps it is a part issue.
Thank you kneeslider for your feedback ; but we don't have here in Egypt DT 200 and never heard a problem with xciting 400

Same part in nearly all models from DT200i to the 500's. Replace with Honda reg-rect made by Shindengen 232-12. Bigger cooling fins (heat sink) and better electronic components. Same plug connectors, same wire colors. This was all worked out and proven by Peter Kapitar in Hungary. Ebay replacements are as bad as Kymco reg-rect. Unless it is the Honda.

Karl

Thank you karl for your advice ; could you give me a link for this Honda rectifier to look for it here in Egypt

Downtown 300 / regulator repeated failure
« on: December 24, 2017, 12:58:26 PM »
i wanna ask about an issue, i'm having a damaged regulator (rectifier) for the second time in less than one year, the first damaged one was the stock one after more than 2 years service (24,000 km) and the second less than 1 year later (about 36,000 km service)
the first and the second time i thought it was the battery but after measuring the diode by avometer, the regulator found to be the faulty one
i'm just wondering if this is normal that rate of damage for the regulator or is this related to any other factor in my electric circuit (i have changed the main headlight bulbs with LED type 40w each)
i found a video on youtube talking about changing the position of the regulator to have more air flow thus prevent its failure due to excess heat not dissipated
also would it be better to replace the damaged one with a regulator with bigger area (for example for the xciting 500) to give better heat dissipation?

you need to remove the front fairing including the windshield to replace the DC fuse, i've done it at my local dealer, i found this post describing how to do it
http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=10361.0
also this is what's written in the service manual for removing front cover
FRONT CENTER COVER
Remove the windshield
Remove four screws, then remove the front
center cover.
Remove the front cover.
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

FRONT COVER
Remove the small front cover(black) screw
Remove the small front cover(black)
Remove two nuts.
Remove eight screws from the inner cover.
Remove the front cover
