People 250 / Re: recommended luggage/saddlebags for People 250

Just want to say i hope you keep us posted about your trip and post some photos after!

By the way, you have some space on the floorboard between your knees, to hang a bag.

General Discussion / Re: High beams... Who uses them during the DAY?
« on: January 17, 2016, 05:26:56 AM »
The low beam is too dim on my People 250, so i always ride with high beams on.. which still isn't very bright.  No one's complained.

I use the "triangle of light" method, made with 2 LED lights below the headlamp.  It's been shown in studies to make it easier for others gauge your distance & speed.

Bright colors are the way to go.  Toss it in the freezer overnight to kill lice.  ;)

I believe that plastic piece is the Chinese flag.  ;D

I've always bought the least-expensive sealed AGM battery on Ebay and never had a problem.

By the way, it's good to own a multimeter, to test the battery and diagnose other electrical issues.  It's just $4 on Ebay for a digital model.

Pulled out onto my road and was doing 35 in a 30 just to avoid a speeding ticked. Some black SUV with 172 as first numbers of his plate sped up and got on my tail. He then passed me close forcing me onto the shoulder. I gave him the clear middle finger and he pulled over. So I pulled over the side of him and parked the scooter. I put my face to his window and yelled at him I was doing 35 in a 30. He yelled at me for driving an unregistered vehicle (justifying possible vehicular manslaughter).
I yelled 3 times back that I didn't have to be registered; and after the third time telling the idiot, he took off real fast.
He purposely ran me off the road thinking he was in the right because my scooter wasn't tagged.

An easy way to get the upper hand is say "I got it all on video. Let's call a cop over and see what he thinks", while you pull out your phone.  8)

Yelling with motorists has escalated into violence before, and adjusting side mirrors just makes them hate all motorbikers, so it's best to avoid emotional behavior.  Definitely speak up to them though.  I've gotten apologies before.

Which dash cam did you get?  I'm looking for an inexpensive, low maintenance one that's easy to plug in & remove (People 250).

Yes, high up, and use amber lights.  This identifies you as "motorbike", and differentiates you from car LED lights in rearview mirrors.

Cool idea.  And not a bad price.

The new mirrors look better than the stock ones.  I prefer high mirrors, so i might use an extender.  When you're lane-splitting, watch the muffler.  I scraped a parked car with it once.  :o

That might be a sign that it breaks down a lot..   ;D

So how did it go?

Not sure how the tabs fit on your bike, but on mine, they are hook shaped, so you first have to "unhook" the tab from the slot by sliding the panels sideways, before pulling them apart.  Haven't broken any tabs yet. The lube makes it easier to remove them next time.  I think mine is Teflon.  I don't think it discolors the finish.. but then my bike isn't a work of art, so it's hard to tell.  8)

Haven't tried heat. I would just spray in some lubricant, but what do i know.

How about those LED lights for the tire valves that bicyclists use?  Looks like a circle of light when the wheel spins.

For the panels, i added black reflective tape (3M's 680 tape).

And if you're really a safety freak, extra running lights, extra tail lights.. and a white helmet with reflective tape.

Lately i've been listening to this kind of stuff on my headphones while getting stuff done.  Brian Tracy, Anthony Robbins, and other greats.  I put this on my playlist...

« on: January 07, 2015, 11:04:11 PM »
Jeez, what happened?

You only really need foam under your butt, so i would shave the rest down a bit until it appears even.  It doesn't have to be perfectly smooth, because the cover will even things out.  I shaved mine with a power drill and a wire brush attachment, which you can see on the bottom right.  It shaves off like butter!

All kidding aside, why could you not use this to fix scratched plastics on a bike?  Or am I missing something?

Well, sanding it might be difficult, since heat can melt it.  Might need to shave it down.  It should work ok to replace missing pieces of broken panels.

I might make a camera and GPS holder, a helmet hook, and a fishing rod holder.  8)
