Super 9 / Re: 2009 S 9 restrictions
« on: September 15, 2010, 06:25:05 AM »
Hey 12, there's also a restrictor in the Boss in the variator, normally it comes with a "shank" on it too stop full travel on the shaft.

One way of removing the shank is to get an engineering company too lathe it off or buy one already done, I'm sure the guys on here can advise where to get them from this side of the water  ;)

You could always sell it to me!  ::)  It sounds like a carb related issue!  Worse come to worse, just throw an aftermarket carb on it! ;)
Are there any aftermarket carbs which will bolt straight up to the super 9 a/c ? at present there is a Keihin carb one there.

Also there is a second hand Keihin carb on good old Ebay, is it worth spending on that or a new one?

Super 9 / Final straw :-(

Right guys after having the Super 9 for two years ive never got to the bottom of the bog down on acceleration.

When I got the scoot it never had a service in 23,000km :-O So I went to work replacing as follows.

Belt
Variator
Rollers
Clutch
Mallosi white torque spring
Leo vince TT exhaust
And general maintenance over the bike.

Even after all of that and resetting the carb back to factory setting and tweaking with new plugs etc still the same?

Every pull away is the same from the lights twist the throttle and you get a bog down for around 2-3 seconds which at the lights is awfull seeing as though I was at the lights with  a Standard peugeot the other day and it wasn't until 30+ I got it back easily lol.

I really am getting to the end here as this one problem is really getting me down because it spoils the rest of the bike :-(.

So the question is, am I missing anything obvious ?

Oh BTW ive done a compression check also and that  came out fine at.
Any helps appreciated again guys :-)

Hi fella's,

Just having a look on the net and have found some carbon reeds from Malossi, are they worth an upgrade with the standard carb and will it make much improvement :-)

Cheers

..some refer to it as a contra, some a torque drive spring..

..also, are you sure you installed the correct size belt..

..i've found there are several different size belts that are stated, in various different places, for my A50..

..view my "95 mm variator" thread in the A50 board for examples..

..you should probably replace the OEM spring with the next stiffer size anyway, as it will give your scoot better overall performance..
I ordered the belt from a kymco dealer over here in the UK .....presume it's ok but will remove the cover and have a look.

So can you order the next stiffness spring from Kymco etc ? or aftermarket ? if so are there any inparticular ?

..have you looked at the cvt, belt etc?

how old is the belt, as my OEM belt broke at 30,000km...

Yeah man changed the belt only about 1500 km's ago as it was never replace by the previous owner, had a new variator and rollers at the same time.

Super 9 / Spring in between clutch ?
« on: June 04, 2010, 08:49:15 PM »
y0 guys, on occasion when I ride the super 9 (ac) i'm getting the slight screech from the drive belt.

Does this sound like the spring is getting weak ? and is it called a Contra spring ?

Scoot has done 35,000 km's ?

Only problem I get when this happens is lack of acceleration from take off.

Super 9 / Re: Super 9 ac air screw in carb ?
« on: April 14, 2010, 07:50:10 PM »
Just to drag this old thread up and update really, Fitted the 89 jet back in (one that came with the bike) and it's running alot better, I have full use of the air screw now LOL.

Only problem is I still have the problem of acceleration from the lights as in it bogs down for about 3 secs or so then goes like a train! any ideas or is it likely to still be carb settings ?

Oh and big thanks for the advice again gents, as it's saved me a lot of dosh so far ;-)

Cheers for that Zombie, I'm going to whip the head off tomorow and take a look then maybe a full internal strip.

Ive never seen a Piston do that on a Bike .

In a way i'd like to find something like this to have a direction to go with now as it's a shame it's not to it's old self.
