yeah, I fully expected the "you did it yourself" replies from the "advisors"........ blameless in their anonymity

long before I posted I tried 85 and 88 jets, they were worse;
and just because I dont know 2 stroke scoots intimately, dont assume I know nothing;
there are no vacuum leaks, the float hasnt sunk, its been apart several times looking for things loose or come adrift....

dont reply, I'm not coming back to this forum, will figure it out logically myself

Re-engineer the inlet opening. That opening is very sensitive to dimension change....

Interesting, thanks, I'll try that.
If you search my earlier posts you'll see an "expert" advised ripping the inlet restriction out, even after I asked if the carb needed the pressure drop upstream of it. That's the joy of online forums, all you need to do is sound authoritative  LOL

2013 Super8 2T
--- 8g Dr.Pulley sliders
--- exhaust "derestricted" by cutting off and plugging the extraneous tubing (yes I did the plug-the-end test and it stalls out and 'pops' showing no leaks)
--- 82 jet installed
--- opened up the inlet box opening from small round hole to about 1" square

now it idles so fast it will accelerate away unless brakes are held,
and when moving, just cracking the throttle a little causes it to bog and slow down,
and cracking the throttle a lot just kills the motor entirely....

great; now what ? I've gone from a usable but disappointing scoot, to a can't ride it at all.....

The stock Super 8 DOES have plastic fan on the variator, the same as all 50cc Kymco scooters, and gy6 50cc. It is not unheard of to have oil on the clutches in 800 miles. I wouldn't say you got ripped.

thx, well maybe the worst "offense" the seller made was reconnecting the speedo cable just before selling me an 18 month old scoot with 60 miles on it  LOL

As time has gone by, the comments here by experts, and my discoveries inside the transmission of my "only has 60 miles on it" two-stroke Super8 convince me that I was hosed by the seller. The variator assembly is a collection of worn out parts which according to parts manuals came off another 4-stroke scoot which has a separate plastic fan rather than the fins integrated into the metal variator face plate.
Yes, engine is definitely 2 stroke, I'm not that much a newb LOL, and bike has oil injection tank under seat as well.

Took the rear clutch apart too, found it heavily worn, and with grease on the three friction surfaces !! No wonder it wont accelerate LOLOL

Super 8 / SPI ??? Re: 2013 Kymco Super 8 2t Tuning Upgrade Help
« on: January 07, 2015, 05:23:27 PM »
anyone else having trouble getting SPI on the phone?

I'm attempting to be a first-time-customer with them, on the basis of this forum recommendation, but this many unanswered calls and no call backs has me thinking of shopping elsewhere....

Super 8 / yet another carb question
« on: January 04, 2015, 10:28:16 PM »
You guys have already noted my "60 miles on the clock" scooter appears to be well past that based on transmission photos I posted, and as each day goes by I'm wondering even more what the heck I've actually bought LOL

Can anyone definitively ID this carburetor? Cant find exactly the same thing on line anywhere.
What is it, and is it appropriate for whats apparently a 2013 Kymco 2 stroke super8?
thanks

Just tried to pull the variator nut off my super8 (only 65 miles on the clock), 250 ft-lb impact wouldn't do it without a torch on the nut first....

...and three seconds with the torch virtually destroyed the adjacent plastic air vane.... where do I get a new one of those? LOL

Super 8 / Re: another carb question - inlet restriction
« on: January 02, 2015, 01:48:07 PM »
thx  :-)

with bettinandlosings' exhaust de-restriction, and this inlet opening, would an 85 be big enough? (sea level in coastal georgia)
max performance at expense of piston life is NOT my goal  lol

Super 8 / another carb question - inlet restriction
« on: January 01, 2015, 10:19:09 PM »
While in the middle of doing the exhaust de-restriction, I noticed the carb breathes through a 1" square hole that immediately drops to about a 5/8 diameter tube....  does it make sense to carve out the tube and leave the bigger square opening, or does the carb need what looks like that purposeful pressure drop upstream? thx for all the help :-)

Super 8 / carbueretor - rubber boot - whats is function?
« on: January 01, 2015, 07:08:44 PM »
My 2013 super8 2T has a loose fitting rubber boot around the outside of the carb, it mostly just gets in the way ....

Does it have any true function, or just something the lawyers and/or EPA demanded and can therefore be discarded?

thanks

which People?  Two stroke I assume...

The S8 150 has the ability to surpass the 50cc2t in every aspect except throttle response. Stock they are almost equals.

sorry for confusion, was comparing my 2003 People50cc 2stroke to my current Super8 50cc 2 stroke

Thx for everything so far. Smooth-boss variator in hand, please remind Mr. Nube if this goes in drive or driven end?
