Sold 02/07/2015  :'(

To a wonderful person from California, who even though they owned a full size truck, took my advise and rented a U-Haul motorcycle trailer for $16.00/24hr.
Take care all and safe riding

Damn, Doc, I'm kinda sorry I let her try my People GTI 300 after she had foot surgery and couldn't ride her Hayabusa. and I'm also sorry I showed your ad to her-she's been kickin' our collective asses on that thing ever since and I'm talking about when we're riding our motorcycles!

Technical | How To / Re: Premium Car oil vs premium MC oil in a scooter

Well, I changed the oil and filter using the Rotella T6 5-40 synthetic diesel oil for the motor and Mobil 1 75-90 in the rear end.  FWIW, a lag I previously noticed at 25mph, 35mph, and 45 mph is gone.  This could just be the belt "settling in" but it was doing it before the change and it was gone immediately after the change, so who knows.

Technical | How To / Re: plastic glue?
« on: January 23, 2015, 11:08:24 PM »
I have a lower body panel that has a broken tab that attaches to the frame. Is there a glue I can use to fix this or other suggestions? A new panel is like $60.00 plus some ridiculous shipping.
This is a Grand Vista.

If I'm not wrong, the tupperware is abs, if so, plain old abs cement will weld it back together.  If you mix some abs shavings with some cement until it melts and makes a slurry, you can actually beef up a part.  Just had to do this on a tab on my wife's GLK350 and the repaired "hoop" is stronger than the one on the other side

Congrats on the air horn install!  Isn't it great to have that sort of sound power?  When a car makes a bone-head move you can blast 'em so they think a Mack truck is bearing down on them!

However, you do have to be careful. Once a car didn't yield me the right of way in a round-a-bout, I gave her a blast and I think it scared her so much she slammed on the brakes and came to a complete stop. Didn't hit her, but it made it far worse. With power comes responsibility Grasshopper.

I've got one on my Triumph as well-also had one on my Piaggio MP3 500, Harley Sportster, and Fat Bob- Goldwing doesn't need it-sounds like an Escalade already.

If you get the BMW lights that's mentioned in the link it's plug and go no need for relays.  If you take the headset apart the rear comes off not the front plastic around the headlight.  To remove the mirrors loosen 17 or 18 mm nut under the rubber seal.  I spent 30 minutes trying to find a thin wall socket for the nuts under the plastic caps on the mirrors. It will make sense when you do it.  Hope I never burn out the headlight at night it's not a 3 minute beside the road job.
Good point on the mirrors-I tried the same thing with the thin wall socket search, then I lifted the rubber and, Duh!

Ity's all plug, and play Except for the blinkers. They require a 5.00 electronic flasher relay thet you can get at any good auto parts or on Ebay.

The oem flasher relies on amperage to charge a capacitor, and trigger the relay. The LEDs do not draw enough amps to charge that Cap. so the lights will not blink at all.

The OEM relay is located under the front fairing. You can locate it by listening to its clicking. Simply swap it out for the electronic version.

The cool thing in going to LEDs is you now have excess power to run a tractor trailer air horn. That will get you noticed.

So are the US turn stalks LED?  I think the rear turn signal are LED, are they not? The sockets for the front cowl turn signals are there and they are wired.  Do these sockets take the same bulb as the US stalks?  If so, can I just add the bulbs? If the stalked turn signals and the rear signal are regular bulbs do I need to replace them with LED's in order to use LED's in the cowl?  Crap, the more I write the more questions I think of. :-\
If the US are not LED, can I just add regular bulbs to the cowl sockets?

OK, so I decided to start on the plastics removal yesterday without benefit of how-to, just grab my huevos and hope for the best.
Camera battery was dead so no pix, sorry.
1. it never got below 50° the night before so that helped.  The hair dryer would probably work for those of you in colder climates.
2. remove all the phillips head screws on riders side of leg shield
3. press the center of the plastic rivets on either side of top cover under the handlebars, the gently remove the nose piece-slight lift and pull gently forward to release the tabs.
4. remove the visible nut 12mm IIRC, the the two phillips screws visible on each side of that nut.
5. remove screw from inside of the glove box at the bottom-mine was missing???
6. remove all the plastic rivets securing the radiator guard, the gently remove the guard.
7. remove 2 phillips screws at the outside edges-visible from the front and about half way down

Now insert a small screwdriver ( a plastic putty knife may be safer) from the rear between the front and back halves of the upper cowling-you'll see and feel a gentle give of the tabs as you slide the knife between. Continue across the top and down the side until all if free.  Repeat on the other side. Now lift off the cowling, and voila! you're done.

Took 45 minutes-could now probably do it in 15.

Installed a Stebl horn in OEM horn location-relay velcro'd to top of glove box under the cowling-loud sucker! It is a tight fit and you have to bend the OEM mount a tad, but it fits

I can take the pictures and get them on my computer with no problem. Where I have trouble is trying to re-size them to meet the forum guidelines. Agilebda sent me a PM, and he is going to take his apart again and take pictures for me. Perhaps he will put them on the forum for everyone's benefit.

PM sent

Take pix Mrmike and do a tutorial so we can all take advantage.  I need to do the same to install the Stebl horn I just got.

OK, I have been reading about activating the in panel turn signals and came across a couple of references to a link under the Like with a detailed plastics removal guide.  I just read thru 32 pages and can't find a "how to" except for a "push here; pull there"

Same deal under search

Can anyone point me to the appropriate link-I don't want to break a bunch of tabs, etc man-handling the little beastie.  I know about the plastic rivet trick, but the tabs have me  :o .  I want to install a Stebel so I'll need to be in there
TIA

People GT 300i / Activating the front turn signals
« on: January 10, 2015, 04:12:19 PM »
I was told the wiring and bulbs are already installed on the front turn signals (in the fascia) and just need to hooked up. The signals on a stalk mandated in the US leave a lot to be desired.

Has anyone hooked up these factory signals?  Any tips?
Thanks

Since the 300gti is all black and not easy to see, I added some reflective wheel strips to increase visibility and will probably add additional reflective whatever to enhance the look

This will get the point across.

Hey, makes me feel right at home-just like Advriders! ;D  Sorry to rub salt in, but 65° today-took the 300i for a scoot, and taking the Triumph tomorrow to play in the twisities  with a little dirt thrown in.  You boys keep your jammies snuggled up! I'll be thinking of you, not! :P
