Yeah I figured that spark plug issue out shortly after testing it so I'm going to retest it when I have some time tonight.

So a week ago I was riding home from work and the rumbled suddenly and I lost acceleration.  Pulled off the drive cover and the belt is fine the clutch is fine.  The starter spins everything but it won't start.
Pulled off the fuel line no gas being pumped.
Pulled the spark plug out and did not see a spark when turning over the bike.
Found that the spark plug boot was 20k ohm resistance.
So I'm looking for a new spark plug boot. Possibly a new fuel pump.
Changed the spark plug when I was at it too.

People 250 / Re: How the Bestem box almost bested me

The four screws are pretty close together, you ideally want them mounted at the far corners for max support with heavy objects in the topcase. You can re-do the mount by drilling holes where the Bestem needs the mount hardware to go, and get long bolts that go through the holes you drilled. This is the ideal and strongest way to mount a topcase, especially since the P250 has a metal rack.

Its pretty much as far out as it can go.  As I recall I couldn't even use the far holes on the left anyways because the metal rack didn't have a hole to go through.  Either way its very secure.

People 250 / How the Bestem box almost bested me
« on: March 24, 2015, 10:46:42 PM »
So my Kymco came with a Givi storage box on the back when I purchased it, but when I was removing the surf rack that came with it some how it wasn't actually locked to its mount properly and fell off while riding to work the next day.  (I know how the hell did I let that happen)  So I started looking for a new storage box and looked at 46 size boxes from Givi and couldn't believe the prices.  My buddy recommended Bestem and I found a nice 46 with a lining and brakel ight for $99 on amazon with prime.  Ordered it, and it came with a mount kit and everything needed.  Well sadly the mounting kit does not work with the stock mounting tail rack of the people 250.  Its meant for a a wire rack according to the instructions.  That wasn't going to stop me though so here is my installation.  I still had the mounting blade for the givi box that feel off and I knew it would work on the rack so I started with that.

So here is the Givi mount I'm going to use. Here you can see the 4 mount points i used to mount it to the rack.  The two bolt on the left of the first picture I had to go up from the bottom since my socket wouldn't fit in the holes on the bottom of the rack. Doing this made the bolts stick out up the top too much so I had to cut off the top of the bolts with a dremel.   You can kinda tell they are cut in the picture.  Also I had to cut off the plastic locking clip the Givi used.

Next I had to drill out some of the plastic to get the bolts that will go through the mount of the Bestem through the Givi to the rack.  You can see where I drilled through the plastic mount at the back.

Next I checked the fitment and made sure the bolts would go through all the way.

Here are the bolts I "was" going to use that came with the Bestem.

Turns out the back ones would go all the way through crap.

I grab the bolts that were on the Givi mount original before the box fell off, and those worked.  Yaay.

Came through just enough.  Tightened everything up and put on the box.  Also I had to cut away a bit of the Givi mount closest to the seat as the seat was rubbing when you opened it up.  Still need to clean that up with my dremel.

What it looks like installed.

What started as a 30 minute job turned in a 2 hour job, but its installed.

Barring the massive workaround I had to use to get it mounted, the Bestem build quality is very good and the lock works perfect everytime.  I use it every day to store my bag for work and my helmet while I'm in the office.  It shows it can fit 2 helmets and it might if they are 3/4 or just skullcaps but it'll only fit 1 full face helmet with lots of room for other smaller stuff.   Very happy with the purchase and would recommend it as a low cost storage box.

The ram mount is what I'm going to use once I get around to it.  The cheap chinese one "works" but I really don't trust it.  I used the Ram mount X-clamp with my phone on my buddies aprilla mana 850 GT a week or two ago and I liked it.

People 250 / Re: Shock upgrade. Bergman 650 shocks

So here is the updated plan with the shocks.  I'm going to take the stock shocks and the bergman shocks to a welder, have him cut off the U shaped forks off the bergman, and the stock shocks.  Then weld the stock U forks onto the bergman.  Problem solved!  I'm in no rush to do this so I probably won't have an update for several weeks.

People 250 / Re: How often do you change the oil with synthetic?
« on: March 10, 2015, 03:10:25 AM »
I was wondering the same thing.  I used AMSoil for a long time on my 05 ZX-6R and let it run 10-15K before replacing.  But that had a real oil filter, the people doesn't.  So my guess is its probably a waste to run synthetic since the people has no filter.

Good to know about the muffler.  I think I'm about done modifying the bike after the cam and shocks.  Going to save up for an Yamaha R1.  Use the people for commuting and the R1 for the canyons.

Your picture was plenty big enough.  Btw you can also just hold ctrl and scroll up to zoom in a browser.
Thanks for the links.  I'll probably pick up a piece of pipe after i get paid in 2 weeks and give it another go.  I'll probably need to do the same thing to the other side.

Good to know about the valve adjustment. I'm probably going to tackle the installation in 2 weeks. I haven't done a valve adjustment before but understand the basics.

Spacer sounds interesting. Can you send me a picture that's a little easier to see how the Spacer will work?

People 250 / Performance cam installation
« on: February 25, 2015, 03:21:05 AM »
So I found a performance cam that fits the P250 on ebay while looking for some random parts and won the auction (I was the only bidder. I got a great deal on it).  It'll be here this week and I really don't know if I can just install it that's it or if I need to adjust/change other parts in the bike to really get the benefit from it.  Any links or help would be great.

To use the tool you put the forked end into the round peg that sticks out from the shock and turn.  You can adjust the right shock if your facing the back of the bike without a problem, but the one on the left if you turn it one direction might require taking the airbox off to adjust.
