General Discussion / Re: CK1 125 Battery
« on: March 08, 2015, 12:42:10 PM »
Thanks for that TLRam1,
The answers to your questions are as follows:

1 I bought the bike off ebay. It is a brand new bike that has been used as a display item and there was no battery with it.

2 There was no manual with it and I have been unable to find one to download

3 There seems to be very little information about this particular model online

4 The battery I have is suitable for a Pulsar 125. It is a very tight fit in the battery box and I am struggling to get the fixing bolt back in.

5 I will do this and look for a suitable Yuasa battery. The one I have is a Landport.

Thank you so much for your help and advice  :D

General Discussion / CK1 125 Battery
« on: March 07, 2015, 06:41:13 PM »
Hi guys,
Can anyone please help me out and tell me which battery this model uses (I live in the UK if that makes any difference!). My local dealer has been unable to get one for me as yet as their suppliers don't have any in stock and apparently Kymco UK don't have any at the moment. Apparently this model uses a different battery to any other Kymco?
I phoned another dealer and he said he had one in stock. He sold me a Landport BV YB7 - A which he says is what it says in the book but when I told him what the other dealer said he didn't seem so sure. I looked at Landport's website and that battery is for a Pulsar. The CK1 125 isn't even listed on the site as seems to be the case with all the other parts sites I have searched on.
So if anyone out there can tell me what battery is definitely on the CK1, I can return this battery (if it's the wrong one) and get the right one. If anyone is in the UK and knows where I can get one from that would be an added bonus. Thanks guys.

Hi Zombie,
Thanks for the heads up on the battery charger and for your advice on any further posts until the new section for CK1s is created

Hi there,
I have another question about the battery on the Kymco CK1 125! Does anybody know what type of battery is fitted on this bike? I'm looking to get a battery charger ready for when my battery arrives so if anybody could recommend a suitable charger that would be great. Thanks  ;D

Roadcraft / Re: Lane Splitting
« on: February 13, 2015, 07:42:44 PM »
I first started biking 40 years ago and never bothered lane splitting. I used to see other bikers doing it but always felt it was a bit dangerous and I wasn't sure if it was actually legal.
About a year ago I bought a cheap bike (1986 Yamaha RSX 100) for riding to work and get back into biking after 30 years. As I prefer 4 strokes I sold it and got a 1980 Honda 250N Superdream.
Although I only have a short commute to work, the traffic is a lot worse than it was back in the day. So I started to lane split and as my confidence grew it became part of my daily ride.
But I only do it when traffic is at a standstill and only when I feel comfortable with the road conditions. I reckon it saves me about 20 minutes, even though it's a short journey so feel it's worth it.
I only ever pass on the right (I live in the UK) and can't believe the number of cagers who will deliberately move out to try and stop me passing.
As bikers we have to be extra careful and attentive and read the road, but when lane splitting we have to step it up a level. I can understand anyone not being comfortable with lane splitting but I think in the right circumstances and conditions it's well worth considering.

Ride with care!

Thanks Zombie,
I think I've managed to find the answer to my question about the battery but, not being particularly mechanically minded, I'm sure I will have many more in the future, so I will take up your advice and ask Skadamo to add a new section for that model. Thanks for your welcoming message and your kind comments about the bike. I think it looks cool too!

Hi,
Just wanted to introduce myself as a new member. I just bought a new CK1 125 off ebay that has been used as part of a display in a car sales showroom. I wanted to ask a question about the battery as there isn't one with the bike and I don't have an owner's manual or anything yet as the seller is mailing them to me, but there doesn't seem to be a section for this particular model so I wondered if someone could please tell me the best place to post my message. Thanks  ;D
