Technical | How To / zx 50 starter
« on: June 23, 2010, 02:13:46 PM »
put a new battery in and the starter worked again but after a couple days it won't work.  the horn still sounds "good battery" loud.  I heard a small click when I hit the starter button.  What do you think?

Don't worry Comrade Obama will have our tax rates as high as europe's very soon.  Our health care will be ruined, our dollar worthless do to hyper inflation, and thugs on the street killing people like Somalia or like his voter base in Chicago who beat the honor student to death while filming it.  Very Very scary!!

got the new brake lever on.  i loosened the brake adjuster all the way out, removed the three screws on the front plastic, this gives enough room to get a 1/4 inch socket extention up to remove and replace the nut.  by loosening the adjuster it gives enough slack in the cable to remove and replace the handle without having to remove all the front plastic.

thanks shaka, i think i am going to first loosen the brake adjustment all the way and some how apply the brake at the wheel  and see if that will give me enough slack to replace the lever.  I seem to break more of the plastic every time i have to remove it.

OK, how do I replace the brake lever.  I'm thinking I need to loosen the adfustment nut as far out as possible to give some slack so I can get the cable out of the old lever.  I don't want to have to take all the dreaded plastic off the front to get a good look, but i probably will have to and I have no idea how that all comes off from around the turn signals.
thanks

Zombie, you are probably correct as another person commented on the stuck ring.  I'll take it in this winter and have them check it out and if there is damage take it to a 70cc.

took my scooters in and they epoxied the fittings into the carb.  i guess i probably could have just used lock tite.  i got lucky on the one that siezed and did no apparent harm as it runs right with my other zx50.. 47/48 mph.

my two zx 50's run 47/48 mph.  The place I bought them from did the original mod and had them to low 40 and then another shop took out the rev limiter.  i'm close to your speed and i'm still at 49.9.cc

what ratio do you mix, 50:1 ??  I was thinking the same thing just premix.  the owners manual actualy says to watch for the fitting coming out of the carb.  seems like they would have redesigned once they knew it could work out.

I have a ZX 50 and the oil injection hose came out of the carburater and the engine temperarily siezed.  I poured some Marvil Mystery oil in the cylinder and got it back running but how do I get the fitting to stay in the carb?  also i lost a couple MPH from this. :'(
