Hacksaw and painter's tape; followed by a file and then two different grades of sandpaper (on a little sanding block).
Already cam out acceptable, not perfect but acceptable. Figured I would ride for a couple of weeks to see if it's low enough.
Wind is still deflected above the head, but I get to see the road without looking through screen at all. I took about 4 inches off the top.

Original top speed on the Scoot without any windscreen on it with me riding, was 88, 89 on the speedometer. After the install of the full size screen 78 or 79  seemed like it was all she had. The big screen was costing me on the acceleration and the top speed.

After the trimming, she was back up to 84  or 85 mph. I got about half of the loss back.

I might (in a few weeks as I wrote) trim the left and right edges; to achieve a more rounded result. I think as long as I leave the middle where it is I am fine.

When I'm done I will put up a photo...

Tried to trace a guideline on the top of the screen I want to cut off. Tried to put a sharpie line on the screen; not so easy to get it right. There with painter's tape, heavy brown paper, scissors, sharpie, level, ruler. Tried making template (as in videos I found on Youtube). Then lowering the template and moving it from the left edge and then to the right edge (allowing the lines to intersect at the top).

I didn't get the resulting line looking very "finished"...

Then realized all the attempts to draw on the screen would be covered by the tape and rendered useless (duh). So the screen must be taped up front and back before the line is drawn. I was thinking of maybe using a make-shift compass (sharpie with a length of string looped around it) to get a symmetrical rounded top.

Or just try to get someone with a little artistic talent to free hand a guideline for me.

Well in the meantime I scoot around wearing my baseball caps (because the screen is so tall they don't blow off)...

Thanks for the replies! I will have to do some more thinking on which to use. But I like the idea of cutting the screen while its on the bike (a good solid hold and then I don't need to undo the nuts and bolts (it would be the third and fourth time) that mount the screen). I suppose if i cut above where I actually want to end up I could experiment with more than one method to at least get a little sample of what the overall cut might look like. That is probably the path I'll take. I won't be happy if I screw it up ($99), but it's not going to be the end of the world either The last Harley windshield I bought was about $360 with mounting hardware LOL

The Windscreen arrived, looks ok, but no instructions just a blow up with parts labeled in Spanish & English.

That said you can't tell until you ride with it on:
   
     1) man is it quiet without the hurricane around your ears.
     2) doesn't look bad,actually fits the look and lines of the scooter well, I think.
     3) it is taller than I thought or wanted, maybe three inches above my comfortable eyeline; so I have to look through the screen at the road. not my first choice but I'll see if I get used to it; if not I have a good neighbor with a "Shop Master" and all sorts of cutting blades. he rides and has cut two screens down for himself (he already offered if I decide to make it shorter).
     4) fitment is supposed to be for the People, but it requires a little nip and tuck; like the two small strips of old inner tube i cut out and installed in-between the screen and the factory's little black "spoiler".
     5) the secondary support struts that lean against the scooters front panel may provide additional support, but think the strut's design and placement could have been better.
    6) the mirror bracket placement could have use d the opportunity to move the mirrors up and out instead of just back. the end result is the mirror mounts very close to the light 7 kill switches. still functions fine, but very close.
    7) The worst thing about the screen is the lose of both topped and acceleration. the scoot now topped out today at about 78 or 79 on the speedometer. I had it up to 87 or 88 prior to the screen being installed. play it was slower to get there.

   All in all it does what it is supposed to and as I said it appears to be well made. The mirrors move a bit more that the did when mounted directly to the frame, but not enough to complain. If I keep it on the bike I will probably opt to take 3, 3.5 inches of the top (so as to allow for my eyes to look over the top at the road). Maybe the cut shorter gives me back a mile or two per hour at the top end. In the rain, in the cold bet this screen will be appreciated...

What is the model number for the one that fits the GTi300 ? I looked at the site, didn't see anything that said there were windscreens for any Kymco models?

Question, on the People GTi 300, the mirror mounting threads are 10mm not 8mmm, yes? Most of the "Universal Scooter Windscreens" I've seen say they have 8mm mounting hardware; i don't want to add more joints with adapters...
