Probably not your problem being it is drinking fuel, but I will throw this out there just in case. My 19 UVX 700 will not go over 7-8 mph unless my driver's seat belt is fastened. Could it be a bad switch in the seat belt? Are you are using the belt?

Well, I went out there and disconnected the battery on our 90 just to see if it would crank with the kick start. It did! Guess you know that now. Have you checked Ebay for the carb?

Ebay has two! A brand new one and a used one off a 2010 model! I think your mm mounting hole may be off some. When I searched Keihin 42mm it was listing carbs for 500cc machines.

If anyone North Carolina or Virginia wanted a 450i there is a dealer, Brewer Cycle in Henderson NC, that list two. They are leftover 2022 that they have marked down to $5500. Pretty sure tax and shipping fees not included but still that is one heck of a price! Just thought I would share!

There is a little magnet sender on the 450i units. It is located by your left ankle when setting on the machine. Pull that cover off and you should see the wires for it and connector if they are the same for a 450 and 500. Think there is a magnetic piece that slides inside. You can try cleaning it first. I would do that and mine would start working for a very little bit of time. Replacement cost me like $60.00, best I can remember.

Idle too high would be my first guess.

MXU / Re: Mxu500i rev limiter

Weird, I had high hopes for the screw limiter. My zero turn mower just did the same thing. It is suppose to run around 3400 rpm. It dropped back to maybe 2500 rpm max. Keeper for the throttle cable broke. The keeper doesn't allow the outside cover of the cable to move. Had to replace it and now everything is good. I don't know if your MXU cable is the same but it is mighty ironic that just happened to me. So check both ends of your throttle cable!

Good luck!!

Check limit screw at throttle. May have been used by a younger driver so parent screwed limit screw in. It is on the front side of the thumb throttle. Turn out one full turn and see if you gain rpm. If you do continue until you get the rpm it should do, 7k-7.5k.

Side By Side / Re: 2021 700i Uxv spark plugs
« on: August 26, 2023, 12:54:11 PM »
I had that problem more with my MXU 450i new than my UXV 700i. Both take the same NGK CR7E sparkplug. On my MXU I replaced the NGK CR7E with an NGK CR6E. That is a one-step hotter plug. That greatly reduced the stalling on it. I would suggest trying the one step hotter CR6E plug.

This may not have anything to do with your current problem, but I will mention as a possibility. I bought a pair of NGK spark plugs off Ebay. They were stamped NGK and came in what looked like NGK boxes. They were for my grandkids atvs. A Kymco 90 and Chinese 110. Both of those plugs started failing with very low hours. When I say failing, I am talking about missing, running rough and finally not at all. Like maybe 5-8 hours of riding. In hindsight I believe they may have been counterfeits. Mainly because I bought the same plugs from somewhere else and have had no more problems with 4-5 times the hours on the atvs now. Just a thought!

Seems mine backfired some when new. Got better after a couple of hundred miles. Awesome to hear it is running better. I don't know where you are located but you may check around for Shell marine grade 89.  Some of our local Shell stations have this and it is nonethanol. See if you can find one and you will have found very good fuel for it!

Had one more thought? Did you buy this new? If not, maybe the throttle screw has been turned in some. Possibly due to a younger driver that the previous owner wanted to reduce the acceleration and top speed some. Right at the throttle thumb lever on the front side you can see the adjustment screw sticking out. Try a couple of turns out and see if that makes a difference. If not just screw it back to where it was. If that is it post back and I can measure how far mine is out. You could then set it the same. I have never touched mine so it should be factory setting.

I have a 2014 Kymco MXU 450i I feel it is pretty awesome for 450. Way faster out the hole than our Yamaha Grizzly 450 when both were stock. This is a You Tube video of it accelerating from a stop to 39mph maybe. It does have exhuast and CVT mods in this video. But like I said it was way faster than the Yamaha stock.

Just copy this into your search bar.

I think you are correct Airshot. The Tracker also uses the 450 Kymco motor. May build the whole thing.

The 500i is a larger engine, not the same. May work though? It is Arctic Cat that Kymco also makes. Pretty sure it is the 500 and down models last I checked. They also made the 300 and youth 90 for Kawasaki. Not sure if they still do! There 500, Arctic Cat, is the same engine as the 450i.

I will step out on a limb here on the rebuild! All aluminum? I wouldn't want this guy to fix my push mower. I would be absolutely shocked to find out that Kymco has been making these units without a steel cylinder liner. Would Kawasaki and Arctic Cat let Kymco make units for them with an all-aluminum cylinder without a steel liner? Would anyone?

Ebay has plenty of Kymco ignition switches with keys included. Prices not bad too.
