General Discussion / Scooter VS Motorcycle prices
« on: June 07, 2016, 08:22:31 AM »
I've been looking bikes to replace my frost, and I noticed that motorcycles, per cc, tend to be more affordable than scooters. Is true? If so, why is that?

It's a frost 200. even in light rain, the engine will start choking and lose power. I'm going to check the filter and report back.

Technical | How To / Air filter problem
« on: December 12, 2015, 07:02:15 PM »
Lately, any time I've ridden in the rain, my bike loses power and depending on how bad it gets, can completely shut my engine off. When it loses power the engine skips and slowly dies down. My first thought was the air filter. If it's not raining, I have no issues at all.

So question my question is, is it likely to be an air filter problem? If so, is the air filter easy to remove, and can I simply clean it?
I guess another question would be, is it generally considered unwise to ride in the rain?

Technical | How To / Losing lots of power... LOTS!
« on: November 08, 2015, 11:00:17 AM »
Hi everyone

This has happened twice now. Once last week and once again a  few days ago. I'll be riding and all of a sudden the engine starts to spit and cough and lose power. I tried to push my way through it which only got me a few meters more. Once I gave up and turned off the bike, it was extremely hot and smelling of burn. I waited a while and tried again which at least enabled me to get home. That was the first time. I turned on the bike every now and then to see if it was still messed up. Nothing so I went riding, but again, it happened. The only thing that was common about those days was that it was in heavy rainfall. Any ideas?

I'm just curious if it's unhealthy to redline

I own a Frost and I've been riding it anywhere and everywhere. Is it healthy for the bike to be redlining? I'm pushing it pretty hard. It relines around the +100kph mark. I get little paranoid so I intentionally slow down.

Things turned out quite well for me. I took out some oil which fixed the power problem and got rid of the oil light. I took it into the chop to have the bell covers cleaned which solved the rumbling. I also had a problem with stalls every now and then, which my guy fixed as well. Total for all this came to about $50, and the bikes running perfectly smooth now!

Thank you very much for all the help

Hmm. That's really interesting because I did in fact over fill the oil.

As for the shaking, my mechanic said the same thing; to basically clean the bell.

I guess it's off to Youtube for tutorials. I'll do what I can and fill you in.

Truly appreciated!

Hello everyone and thank you for letting me into your community.

I bought a Frost a few months ago and it's been running great until a few days ago. There are a number of problems, that I think might be related because they all happened quite recently.

1. The oil light came on, so I changed the oil and the light doesn't shut off.

2. Off the line the bike is VERY shaky. It rumbles and shakes a LOT. It levels off once I go full throttle.

3. I've lost a lot of power. I don't go off the line as quickly as I used to and the over all acceleration and top speed is significantly less.

Any thoughts? I'm trying to avoid taking it into the shop since the shop is quite far away and towing it would cost me a $100 at least.
