General Discussion / instrumentation
« Last post by Stig / Major Tom on March 31, 2025, 07:45:22 PM »
I like how legible is the simple dash on my LIBERTY 150i.
It is well lit and the color is pleasing to my eyes on my night rides.

Key on, it displays the basics, then settles into a clear and useful instrument.

Big enough - easy to read.

I always enjoyed my Honda Forza's 'key-on' antics!

and while I haven't been in a multitude of automobiles, I've never found a more thoughtfully placed or easier to use set of gauges than those in the late Scion xB's. Built by Toyota, modestly priced, customizable, Toyota hoped to interest younger buyers.
I've never seen a more legible set of gauges - even in the brightest sunlight. Push buttons can scroll through average speed, MPG's, fuel range, etc, etc. The placement puzzled me - but I saw their reasoning after driving the car. Brilliant - like a fighter pilot would expect. Line of sight. Not down in your fists.

that's all i got

Roadcraft / hearing protection
« Last post by Stig / Major Tom on March 31, 2025, 06:53:03 PM »
To protect my hearing on every scooter ride I wear these 3M foam ear-plugs.

I buy them by the carton - most economical I've found.

They let me hear just enough - and not too little.

Even while wearing a full-face helmet I find that I want to wear these plugs.

Assumed motor is running?
If YES
-turn the throttle adjuster (black knob wheel) on slack
-turn D-screw 1 1/2 turns out (appr 1300 rpm)
-turn throttle adjuster at rpms desired

beginning with the principle that once you have eliminated the impossible, “whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth”

As opposed to Occam's Razor?  Which would posit that, as the most common marque, Honda would be the likeliest culprit?

The funny thing in this is that I don't even know if the engine is ok because I never heard the sound of it!

But you will, I am sure!

that's a great idea, Scooterfan! I don't think I've ever read about anyone having separate wheels and tires to swap onto their scooter. When you get the knobbies on you'll have to post a pic.
